>Try to keep things /vr/ related: Focus should be on 6th Gen Consoles and older. Slight off topic is fine so long as it's related to CRTs, such as later 16:9 models, HD models, etc. Systems with backwards compatibility are also safe territory, as are re-releases on newer hardware. PC CRTs are also welcome and appreciated.
>Produce OC! Bust out your camera and take photos of your CRTs displaying all sorts of games, featuring all sorts of tubes, using all sorts of signals. Getting good shots can be hard, but if you take enough, at least a few will turn out alright.
>Try and give as much information as possible when asking for info on a specific set, or troubleshooting an issue to expedite and help you may receive. As always, Google is your friend and we are your friends with benefits. Do people read this? Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either; Seriously, there's literally 6 years of backlog at this point.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. Always remember to show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.

Limited discussion of video processing and scaling devices is alright, but remember to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories.

I have pic related coming in tomorrow. Haven't used a CRT in a decade in a half. I did not realize converting an HMDI signal to RCA/Analog/whatever was so convoluted. There are a couple little emulation devices I wanted to throw on there but guess I'll just have to trial and error, and in the mean time dig out my old snes and maybe get a flashcart for it.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm so excited for the nostalgic fuzz and refreshing my frame of reference of how OG hardware actually looked. Also want to throw on some old DVDs too!

I had to move a 36" Toshiba set just last night, and they're fucking heavy. 200lbs or so doesn't sound like a lot, but the weight distribution is a bitch. Don't expect to move it solo unless you're on gear or something. It worked with 2 of us, but my friend got tired. We had a couple other friends pitch in and it became a whole lot easier.
>>12041139
I'm gonna try and pitch bringing it upstairs to another pal, and hopefully he'll go for it because he's a tall motherfucker and he works out. Once it's on flat ground it's going straight on the dolly. Hopefully I won't die because the set looks fantastic.

Maybe in 5-10 years. Right now CRTs are easy to find and affordable, at least in the midwest. Even the most in-demand ones like JVCs and Sonys are still not too bad. It's really just pvms that have gotten absurd, which I don't care because they're completely overrated for retrogaming and a gigantic meme.

It might actually go away after sometime from the TV's degaussing. Your TV is affected by the earth's geomagnetic forces so if you've rotated the direction it's facing that could be what's causing that bowing. I wonder if there's a guide online for optimal CRT feng shui.

Do all 20-21 inch CRT TVs have low TVL? The ones I've seen in this size had very soft image and easily visible grill/slot mask, while 25" and up were clearly sharper. Was this always the case or were there some sharper small TVs (excluding PVMs etc)? Talking about Europe in particular

Lads, I bought a CRT yesterday, but it came with this car cable instead of a regular power cable. I thought it would be easy to find a substitute, but no matter how hard I look, there's nothing that resembles it anywhere online

Has anybody seen something like this before? The TV is a Nokia MP 37 H1. Most of the ones I've found in random listings don't seem to have this socket to begin with

Honestly I'd say the Guncon2. I own two Guncon2s and two Guncon1s, they get a lot of playtime between me and my buddy, I've even gone as far as setting up Time Crisis 2 and 3 in the home. I don't have a lot of experience with the Saturn but after looking at the list it seems like you aren't missing out on much, except House of the Dead (Crypt Killer is available on the PS1 and with a patch it'll work with the GunCon1.)
With GunCon2 you get Time Crisis 2, 3, and Zone, Vampire Night, Virtua Cop Rebirth(1+2,) Capcom's Gun Survivor games, and Ninja Assault. Time Crisis 1 is on the PS2 via a JP only collection that also has Point Blank 1-3, they're pretty easy to navigate despite not being in English. Several other not so well known titles once you get bored of the good stuff. This of course all works with OPL. Guncon2 does NOT work on the PS3 nir of course the 1
Guncon1 is also great but I think the PS1 has a slimmer selection of games. The big ones you miss out on are Ghoul Panic, Elemental Gearbolt, and Crypt Killer. Point Blank in English if you really care. For PS1 I just burn discs and disc swap, but if you have a hard copy GunCon1 works on PS2 even fir some GunCon2 games.
Otherwise GunCon1 and 2 are both super accurate and sturdy, the setup is easy and also works with S-Video and component. You don't necessaeily need the pricey T-cable, there are some cheap work arounds like using a female to male RCA cable with S-Video or just buying the adaptor pieces. I just wish House of the Dead 1, 2, and 3 were on PS2, and maybe a CarnEvil port.
>>
>>12047897
>the setup is easy and also works with S-Video and component.
I was wondering about that. I'm using s-video cables, how do I go about hooking up the composite video plug on the guncons?
>>
>>12047934
It's gonna depend on your TV, firstly it has to have a video input that takes S-Video and composite for the same input, secondly you might need a PS2 A/V cable that has both composite and s-video output on the same cable.
Now I had a Toshiba and Sony that had this input, on the Toshiba I could connect the guncun video cable to the composite without having to connect the PS2's composite video into the passthrough, thus a female RCA to male RCA cable between the guncon and TV worked without issue.
On my Sony I needed a PS2 video cable with composite and S-Video because the GunCon would only work if the PS2's composite video was also plugged into the passthrough. So in this instance I still needed the T-adaptor cable. Using this setup the S-Video output was focused and the TV would not display the composite video while both were plugged in, this may vary with other TV sets.
I've done my best to draw a diagram in hopes of you better understanding, again the Toshiba did not need the T-adapter cable, just a female to male RCA cable.
In exchange for all my knowledge, you must now post your CRT and whatever you're playing ITT. Thank you.
>>
>>12048037
Couldn't you just plug the PS2's composite output into the guncon and omit the TV completely if you're using S-Video anyway? As far as I'm aware plugging both into a shared input on the TV can introduce interference like checkerboard patterns (chroma from composite being the culprit, just like in poorly shielded sync-on-composite SCART cables), I've run into a problem like this before.

Anybody here have a Guncon and Time Crisis? My crosshair is a little jittery on my RCA TruFlat TV. I know some jitter is to be expected, but mine kinda flicks off a small (but not insignificant) amount to the side for a fraction of a second somewhat frequently. It's caused me to miss multiple shots while playing.
Is this an issue with the guncon itself? Should I consider opening it up and cleaning it? What about recapping it? I've done recap jobs before but I know nothing about how these devices work and don't know if it would help in the end.
For reference, I'm using a PS2 slim with an AV multi-out for the composite connection from the guncon, as I'm using s-vid. I dunno if that matters at all.
