So, I have a new OCD - to collect as many "interactive movies" as I can.

And I ran into a few problems.

1. It's a format, not a platform, so there are no ready sets. Redump puts them together with regular video content.
2. There is no specific name - I have to go through all possible options when searching, but even that does not guarantee success. People come up with their own names, post them in the video section, etc.
3. There is no list of releases. Mostly, they are large (relatively) releases or something related to “big names.”

It's a pain in the ass. So I would appreciate any help: links to release lists, links to discs (in any form, I'll leave the accuracy of the data to the experts), tips, in general. Please, help in any way you can.

Anything will do, from demos and discs for teaching preschoolers to bootlegs and little-known Japanese eroge. Except for discs with movies that had games on them (hidden or not) like Shrek.

I'll put it all together for a seeding once I'm more or less done.

Thanks.

I am interested in similar, but im also looking for dvds and blurays with games on them of somewhat substantial value. Like I believe the bluray for one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films has some gambling dice game on it and Meet the Robinsons has a shmup of some sort.

I decided not to go in that direction because there are significantly more of these discs, you need a full disc to play them (meaning you have to store a bunch of movies), and there is even less information about them

Thanks

This is a new possibility for autism. Is there some list somewhere of these titles? How many DVD players can still even play them?

They used to have board games you would play with a vhs tape

All disc players (DVD, Blu-ray) for TVs are capable of playing discs that specifically state on the disc cover or on the disc itself that they are for those types of players. If you put them in any console with that disc format, you will also be able to use them, provided that console has the function enabled to play that type of disc (video).

i guess the game wave wouldn't fit your criteria since it's more like a game console?

ACKCHEWALLY the original DVD spec had some sort of embedded Flash player. An old school one. It would control the chapter and feature selection.

AFAIK all DVD players still support some version of Flash, 3.0 or something truly ancient, and are all probably totally able to be comped.

That's actually pretty interesting

There was also a Java option back then IIRC. I have to say, exploiting old DVD players is probably an underrated hobby.
>>
>>12037537
Wouldn't surprise me, Java was and still is everywhere
Do you know anywhere I can read more about this?

DVD spec, from Philips / Sony. It's on archive.org. I read all about all this a moondog's age ago.

Blame the rippers and no one else faggot because they just made it a movie cutting parts and nothing else.
Also it is a platform "bandai pipin" so you are wrong, bluray in the past had options like different camera angles (if you wanted to see something else) which dvd also had but in poor quality and then you had dvd player games which several ignored because of the myth "muuhhh dvd player is going to overheat" or "using those games will render the laser useless after playing a few times" because they wanted something to show off sitting near tv (reason the multicamera options, choices for scenes and age rrstrictions locks dissapeared).
One of the most famous DVD player games is school days which also had a psp release sadly despite both being uncensored the DVD player version remains undumped while de psp can't be played because henrik doesn't want to give support so aren't emulated.

DVD players are not all the same. My player is a (((reference player))) and it maps the 8 or even occasional 10 bit signal to a 14 bit DAC with a straight geometric transform with interpolation and BOOM it looks better than Blu-Ray.

I'm done torturing search engines. Over the weekend, I'll make a list of games in Excel.
>>12037334
I skimmed through some info about it, and as far as I understand, it's mostly a regular DVD player. I'll need to look into it more deeply.

The picture in the post above shows different lists. How good are they? The game based on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is only in one of them...
>>
Please check your local trackers (or other file-sharing sites). It is almost certain that there was a scene of trashy/erotic DVD games in your country. I would be grateful if you could share the links.

I remember tha a lot of DVD movies for kids had simple games on them. They were very simple, most of them just used the DVD menu system for basic inter activity but for a kid without a console they were quite entertaining.
