I like classic Castlevania, I love Super Metroid. This shit always gets talked about like it's Godcunt so is it really so hot? Will I love it more than Super Metroid?I was always turned off by the gay aesthetics of anime Castlevania but if it's really truly superior and not contrarianism I'll try it
>>12035201Just try it yourself. You'll lose 0 dollars and an hour of your life if you just boot up an emulator and a ROM off the internet
>>12035201it's more like an action rpg than super metroid, i mean there's still exploration throughout the castle in it with various items but that always felt secondary to the combat to me which is very fun in this game, although it is one of the easier ones imo. i love it personally but if it's too easy for you (the late game bosses do get harder granted) try the not-retro order of ecclesia. hard as balls and more like the classicvanias in style (so less backtracking) but also pretty fun although it's annoying to 100% because half the sidequests are resolved by rng.
>>12035215I have to physically restrain myself from talking about the DSvanias here. I'd love to see them, but they'd drag too much not retro garbage with the systems they're on
>>12035201You shouldn't try it, ever. You are too annoying a person to deserve to enjoy it if it's good, and if it's bad then there's no point. (I have not played it myself.)
When you learn how to short hop slash (fast weapons) or back dash cancel (heavy weapons) the combat becomes very satisfying, even more so than the sequel due to superior sound effects. >anime aestheticsYou're mistaken, the sequel is full blown anime, Aria is tasteful gothic. After you beat the game, check randomizers for some extra play time, it might be even more addicting.
>>12035201just play it already you insufferable faggot, holy shit
>>12035201the sequel is better in every way and has some actual difficulty, Aria is an OK game but it really suffers from a small castle and cakewalk boss fights
>>12035201>This shit always gets talked about like it's Godcunt so is it really so hot? Will I love it more than Super Metroid?- No blacks.- No empowered women.- No LGBT propaganda.- The female enemies are nearly naked.- No DEI detected.Yes, it has the old retro style gaming in it, its worth your time that videogame.
>>12035201It's good, but overrated. Circle of the Moon is better provided you aren't playing it on an actual launch GBA where it's impossible to see. Harmony of Dissonance is decent if you get the patches that fix the colors/music and add extra characters.Circle > Aria > Harmony. If you're not opposed to playing patched versions of things,Circle > Harmony: Revenge of the Findesiecle Deluxe+ > AriaNote that Findesiecle is love or hate. If you aren't amused by the concept of 5 Simon Belmont variants and Megaman as unlockable characters, it might not be for you.
>>12035462i fucking hate romhacks so much, what a way to completely eradicate the artistic integrity of a a game
>>12035484>artistic integrity>Harmony of DissonanceThere's a reason the goofy patch is for this game and not some other castlevania.
>>12035201I don't care if you play it or not, you motherfucking retard.>inb4 cared enough to replyJust to let you know that you're a motherfucking retard.
>>12035201Okay I'll try to share a different perspective. I loved classic Castlevania. I beat Castlevania, Simon's Quest, Dracula's Curse, and Rondo. I loved them. Thought that's all I liked. I only beat SotN twice, and even though I have strong nostalgia from SotN when it was fresh the nostalgia isn't enough. I wasn't much of a fan of SotN. It was okay. Then I got into all the handheld metroidvanias and it clicked. These are just chill games that feel like you're making progress. There's not much challenge to the base game for the most part. They're just nice to play. Will you get the same replay value out of them that you get from Super Metroid? Will you love them more? It's unlikely if you're a big fan of Super Metroid. If the theme appeals to you already, then you will enjoy them. To say they are superior is subjective. I mean I'd rather play the worst of the Castlevania metroids than Super Metroid, Zero Mission, or Metroid Fusion. That's my opinion. Then again I even love Harmony of Dissonance. I moved on from classic Castlevania. That's how much I like these games. They're just chill. I don't want a challenge anymore.
>>12035484Oh no, a fresh new way to experience a game I love instead of playing it as is for the 20,000th time!I love rom hacks. Fuck the developer's intentions, I wanna play more videogames.
>>12035458>The main character is a tranny/femboyUhh
>>12035303>You're mistaken, the sequel is full blown anime, Aria is tasteful gothic.Actual horror/gothic in Castlevania was promptly dropped in lieu of high school level drama when IGA took over in the 2000s, Soma is still has a K-pop bishounen regardless of the promotional art. At least Dawn actually bothered to have multiple portraits to display emotions.
>>12035201As someone who loves Castlevania, probably more than Metroid overall, its level design/map doesn't come anywhere near the elegance of Metroid in general. IGA has a problem with extended flat hallways dotted with enemies. The closest exception is CotM, which he or his team didn't even make, it just follows the style of SotN. That said, they're all decent to great, nonetheless. >>12035462Agree with your placements and never heard of that ROMhack, sounds interesting. Thanks for mentioning it.
