>if you didn't play on crt you didn't beat the gameIs this true?
>>12036832In KH2, absolutely. It's wild how little you actually have to interact with that games mechanics on any difficulty but critical. It legit goes from a mediocre but serviceable arpg to one of the best action games ever on critical.
I will never understand CRT boomers. Absolutely deluded by nostalgia
>>12036835... read that as "crit'
>>12036835this made me laugh out loud, thank you
>>12036832I don't know why someone would say this when a CRT only makes games easier.
Please stop responding to shitty bait threads you fucking retards
I know this is a bait question but I'll say it again.I was born in the '80s and was extremely glad when we switched to LCDs. I never want to use a CRT again. The screech bothers me (especially when I was a kid, I could hear a CRT 3 rooms away), the static feeling bothers me, and I used to start tearing up after just 30-60 min of playing. I don't think they look better, either.
>>12036832They're a nice change if you're used to playing on LCDs but they aren't fundamentally better. They definitely mask pixellation somewhat, I think they suit non HD games a little bit better.High end PS2 games look glorious on a CRT but all of the pixels and lack of texture resolution is highlighted on an HD display
>>12036862it was a TV problem but not a PC monitor problemPC monitors' flyback transformers operate beyond human hearing range (compared to TVs' 15kHz, which is audible) and they generally supported high refresh rates (85Hz and above was fast enough not to get sore eyes from the flickering)
>>12036862I gotta say, after years of bitching about how much CRTs suck and that even as a kid in the 70's and 80's I would go to the movies and see how incredible things could look but then at home we were stuck with theses pieces of shit. Just the light that comes out of CRTs has always felt very glaring and unpleasant. Add to that the high pitched squealing sound. One of the main reasons I played so much Gameboy over other things was that even though it was a washed out monochrome you could only see in good light, at least it didn't feel like it was raping your eyes and ears.
>>12036896>>12036862I was born in the 80s and prefer using CRTs for older games. Totally fine using LCD-type displays for modern stuff, though. >>12036832I do not think anybody outside of falseflagging baiters have ever said this. It's just a preference, and if anything you have a greater chance of unintended input lag making things harder depending on which LCD you're using.
>>12036902Input lag ruining my favorite timing games such as Paper Mario and TTYD (yes, these games are more RHYTHM games than they are rpgs) made me dislike newer TVs over CRT. Those converters sucked.
>>12036902I know many people didn't mind them, my family thought I was weird because I found looking at the TV too long hurt my eyes. But now they all have glasses and I'm 51 with excellent vision so jokes on them maybe.
I miss when the janny banned everyone.
>>12037402you can go back to resetera if you truly miss it for the same experience
>>12037402Is crying like a little bitch gonna bring xer back?
>>12037402That old janny wouldn't delete me. I didn't post a pepe or a wojak,
>>12037402just wait for the new one(s) to start work
>>12036832no one has beaten a video game since 1999
>>12037402Why would you come to 4chan expecting rules and moderation? I'm serious. You get upset when someone posts a joke, meme, or dissenting opinion about a game or device you don't like? Those things are what separates this site from all the others. That's a (You) problem. Grow some thicker skin or gb2reddit.
>>12036862I can imagine how much you got beat up admitting you were too weak to look at a tv for more than 30 minutes. uhhh ooooooo its so uncomfortable doing something literally everyone on earth does all day eew uhhhhh im in pain.
>>12037481that implies games died in 1999, which i would argue against, games died in 2004 for me
>>12037496>Predicates his manliness on what TV he usesSorry about your virginity.
>>12037496i met this super weird kid exactly once who was only allowed to play half an hour of vidya a day and defended it by saying he had a headache by then. unrelated but i asked him what his favorite game was and he got the name wrong despite wearing a shirt with the fucking game's title on it. we were like 9
>>12037516it sounds like he was indoctrinated in a weird way where his parents decided playing a token amount of vidya each day would unlock his chad inner self, instead of reading a book he's interested and becoming harry potter irl
my dots on a screen are better than your dots on a screen
>>12036832Better question is why there's not a Gunsmith Cats game?
>>12036917Modern TVs have tons of latency in general. Modern monitors are fine though
>if you don't coomlect the plastic, you didn't play the game
>>12036832Only if your brain was replaced by chinese food.
>>12037592>>12036862>>12036832Off topic, but why do so many people like you anime post as if it's your way of telling us your personality or signaling to us your "autism" or whatever the fuck it is?... pic unrelated.Gunsmith Cats was a very good OVA regardless and should have had several seasons.

>>12037656i answered your question the creator also decided to take care of his parent's candy store, rather than pursue his manga/nearly-doujin career
>>12036862idk, I just know that hardcore gamers, especially games like Super Smash Bros Melee uses CRT TVs for "higher frame rates" to get a more fair fight. I don't think they carry all those heavy TVs purely for nostalgia sake.

If you beat a game like Ninja Gaiden or Castlevania 3 on an emulator with input lag, I consider that more impressive compared to beating them on a CRT or other lag-free solution.
>>12036837CRT looks better than that edgy pixelated mess and the blurry mess next to it.
>>12036832Unfortunately anon it is very much true. Not just for retro games but for new games too - Donkey Kong Bananza? You need a CRT to beat it - Silksong? A hidden achievement for beating it on a CRT. There are some poor zoomers out there who have never /actually/ beaten a game at all, scary stuff.I don't like it but I'll have to go along with it.
>>12036837This is a shit troll post.
>>12037613Gunsmith Cats was boring as shit and Mad Bull 34 was genuine kino that got shit on.
>>12036832This is only true for lightgun games. Playing lightgun games with a mouse or controller sucks and isn't even close to the same.
CRT is easy mode for babies that can't beat a game with a bit of input lag.
>>12036832No.Yes.
>>12038796No joke Silksong looks good on a (really big) CRT
>>12036832it is with OG light guns, 100% they don;t work on anything else.
>>12038835Not retro read the board rules or fuck off to /v/.

>>12037613I simply posted GSC because OP did and I like it too.Big deal, at least my whole personality isn't telling people not to enjoy things.>>12037676The refresh rates aren't a big deal to anyone, it is imperceptible, and I don't consider competitive Smash players any more "hardcore" (lol) than anyone on this board. Personally I play for escapism.
>>12036862Undiagnosed autism must have been confusing back in yore. Luckily everyone is autistic now.>>12037613Bro says the sound and feel if crt made him cry and you say posting an anime pic on an anime board is his autism flag?
>>12036832No, but playing on a CRT absolutely makes the experience better for older games and anyone who argues otherwise is either stupid or hasn't actually had the opportunity to play on a CRT. Even playing those games on small consumer sets is better than LCD screens.
>>12036832CRT would either make no difference or make it easier. Using a laggy TV in movie mode would be akin to expert mode.
>>12037613>it's your way of telling us your personalityYou kinda answered your own question. It's usually just because they don't have an image that relates to the post, so they use an image of a character they like as a way to indicate the tone of the post, and when people like characters enough to have images of them on their computer, it's often because they relate to them in some way. Or they use a picture of a hot chick to get more eyes on their post.>>12037576Assuming it isn't a visual novel or something, how would a Gunsmith Cats game even play?
>>12038831if you didn't beat the retro game on a laggy LCD with ghosting and screen glare you didn't beat the game.
>>12036837This image sucks ass but I agree with your statement about how obsessive the crt autists can get
>>12037516That is good parenting. If the kid was awkward/weird socially, it definitely wasn’t due to a lack of playing video games lmao.
