Extremely Gamecube coded games yet...they're not for Gamecube.
>>

Explain what makes them GameCube coded
>>
>>12040147
i find them more xbox coded. might've been what I played it on at a friends house but the sandboxy gameplay and sexy girl remind me of the console for some reason

Too edgy juvenile for Gamecube, that's Sony style not family friendly Nintendo

Stupid ass thread

They have the invader zim guy doing the voice
The games are all about comedy
"Not your big brothers GTA" design motif
Lets face it...that's gamecube coded.

I always felt like Jet Set Radio should've been a GameCube exclusive game and I was surprised when I found out it wasn't even on it
Also katamari damacy felt like a GameCube kinda thing to me
>>
>>12040256
I agree. I feel like after dreamcast everything sega should have just been gamecube.
And katamari feels pretty gamecube too
>>
>>12040263
>>12040256
The skewed sticks doesn't fit in with katamari. To me Katamari is right alongside under the skin, mad maestro, gitaroo man titles of that sort. PS2 was all about the weird stuff.

yeah i couldn’t image playing katamari with that dogshit shitcube controller

It's amazing how limited zoomer vocabulary is. Like the how the "core" suffixes have become prevalent in zoomer vocab. Nothing actually original, mind you, just grabbing a word and using it for everything.

P2S had a wide, wide array of games.

For me, it's Psychonauts. What were they thinking not putting that on GC? It's the one place it might have found an audience (with people who were seething about no Banjo Threeie)
Also, Sega making Crazy Taxi 3 and JSR2 for the Xbox, and promptly killing those franchises.
>>
>>12041424
Maybe it couldn't handle those. Crazy Taxi 3 runs like crap on Xbox too.
>>
>>12041429
Develop the games to run on the appropriate hardware, instead of being stupid?

I find Psychonauts to be appropriate on Xbox, and extremely fitting with the identity of the console.
>>
>>12041450
the game flopped, though. No one wanted to buy a charming funny platformer on Xbox or PC, and I guess it just got lost in the waves of Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank games on PS2.
GC really is the one place where it actually could have stood out and been appreciated.
>>
>>12040173
Sony was publishing more family friendly games than nintendo on both the psx and ps2. For every Mario they had 10 mascot platformers.
>>
>>12041467
The gamecube audience wasn't interested in anything but Nintendo, the occasional Sonic and licensed game. Too much would have to be changed to suit the Gamecubes limitations. It would have done worse and played worse.
>>
>>12041474
Sonic did well, because it fit into the Nintendo ecosystem, in being a platformer with an appealing style. I'm assuming Super Monkey Ball also did well.

I have a physical copy and a newly-oiled disc drive, it runs fine for me. I suppose it's different if you're using a backup on the hard drive. About the only real offense is the aliasing, but pretty much all 3D retro games have that going on.

It doesn't really matter now when you can play PS2 titles with a wireless Gamecube controller.

but yeah, we need a list of games that should've been on the Cube. Starting with Maximo, which was already planned for the N64, how Nintendo lost out on this is hard to say.
>>
>>12042239
Didn't Capcom owe them a fifth game anyway, contractually?

These Xbox-PS2 only games stand out a lot. I know it must have been hard to target GC with those small disc capacities but to cut it out entirely?
>>
There is a huge overlap between XBOX and GC games. It also helps that the graphic fidelity and lack of interlacing made the games kind of look alike.
>>
>>12042332
There was an obvious leap from GC to Xbox, even over composite it was obvious games like THUG were higher fidelity on Xbox. Exceptions are insanely rare. Xbox render res being higher than GC and PS2 is what really helps them stand out, as well as the prevalence of MSAA on the console.
>>

>They have the invader zim guy doing the voice
Psychonauts wasn't on the GC either.

This is the saddest thread I’ve ever read. Cubies were already the laughingstock of Nintendo and the retro gaming community in general, but this is beyond pathetic.
Thank god I wasn’t a poorfag cubie and had games to play instead of making shitty fanfiction box arts of Shitcube releases of PS2 games. What an embarrassing console. It’s no wonder it’s so unpopular and its legacy is made up of a dozen troons who use smelee as a tool to get closer to children at tournaments.

What are some GC games that are PS2 coded? Eternal Darkness?

Kingdom Hearts.

Disney was already doing several N64/GameCube exclusive titles in the late 90s and early 2000s, for obvious reasons Nintendo platforms were seen as a good home for Disney games. The problem was most of them were not good and were just typical licensed shovelware. But many of them still sold very well.

Kingdom Hearts would've been massive on the Cube, being an actually good Disney game. It also has that vibe of being a GameCube-friendly JRPG where it's a good starting point for a young person to get into the genre. It's also quite similar to something like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles where it could be marketed as "Final Fantasy but not really", and for that reason I'm surprised Square didn't take the gamble of making a GameCube port, since it wouldn't have threatened the PS-exclusivity of mainline FF.
>>
>>12042326
>These Xbox-PS2 only games stand out a lot. I know it must have been hard to target GC with those small disc capacities but to cut it out entirely?
They were all mid-gen games that came out in that era where 3rd parties started freaking out about GameCube's lower sales and panic-cancelled most of their ports.

What's weird though is how inconsistent it was. Something like TimeSplitters Future Perfect or Call of Duty Big Red One gets GameCube releases in 2005, but Crash Twinsanity's GC port gets cancelled. Makes you think that the issue is more that certain devs just had a biased grudge against Nintendo, rather than 3rd party games actually not being viable on the system.

Then you also have the case of a game like Soul Calibur 3, where Sony paid for PS2 exclusivity because they felt threatened by the fact it's predecessor SC2 sold best on GameCube. Sony were extremely dirty in the early 2000s, basically as scummy as modern-day Microsoft, except Sony retained goodwill based off the fact they still made great 1st party games.

That's true, it is fun. Wish Ubisoft or Traveller's Tales had made another Mickey Mouse title, since those skewed so young on the cube.

Honestly I'm not really a big fan of that water, it's too realistic for a game like Blinx. I think Waverace's (GC) water would've been more fitting
