I actually tried one of the older ones back then because I really liked Gallop Racer. Really wanted to get one translated and wonder why they never did, but learnt that it probably has to do with licensing with all the big names, and that was the first time I got to know Oguri Cap, Tokai Teio, and the general Japanese horse racing scene, way before "the honse game".
