Can someone why people would ever play fatty padded filler games with zero depth, zero difficulty, no gameplay density and are just carbon copies of each other over a quality genre like shmups that has none of those issues? I genuinely don't understand why you'd play games if not for challenge and mastery

To lay back and entertain myself until death arrives.

A lot of western games, especially PC ones, are more like hobbyist spaces and tools than proper 'games' you try to win or mixed media comparable to movies.

I play megamods for OpenXcom not trying to win, I just like to fuck around with them and see what people have managed to make the game capable of.

And on the other side there are games that are just fidget toys for spastic transsexuals or vaguely narrative-formed skinner boxes about crouching through ferns to stealth takedown camp leaders for skill points.

I've played through some of the entry-level shmups (R-Type, Mushihimesama, Dodonpachi, Zero Ranger, UN Squadron, Crimzon Clover) and while I definitely enjoyed playing through them, I just don't get that much out of bullet dodging compared to the gameplay of other arcade action genres. And no, I wasn't credit feeding. I get the appeal, but they're not the be-all-end-all like of video games. Would much rather play Metal Slug, Ghouls n Ghosts or a Classicvania.

Morky schizo.....

Again with that clickbait dumbass? And you're going to die with that argument, so at least choose a better genre. For example, sim racing autism has its practicality, since you can, like, learn how to drive a car.

It's a pacing issue. Shmups that get praised by autists are "all killer no filler" and that's an intense experience that requires actual focus while playing. It's not really fun unless you're doing some mental gymnastics. It's challenging and rewarding to play shmups but not everybody wants to feel like they're setting goals and competing for high scores when they're just killing time.

Stay on your board, nigger

Long story short, people play games for a lot of different reasons. Experiencing a story, messing around with fun mechanics, enjoying a short challenge that you won't replay, messing around with your friends, etc.

You can enjoy shmups and other genres. You can be a pro fighting game players that enjoys Animal Crossing too. The idea that you should only be playing the most hardcore games all the time is nonsense.

This, sometimes you just want to relax with a game.
>It's not really fun unless you're doing some mental gymnastics
I only disagree with this part, but you do need to be in the right mood for it and it doesn't appeal to everybody.

To add to that, nothing wrong with sticking to just shmups or whatever else if that's your favorite thing in the world. But it's obvious why not everybody does that.

Nta, but you're more likely to be the schizo. Take a look in the mirror faggot.

All shoot em ups are exactly the same with a new cost of paint...
>>

Man the cover art for this game is so cool

It always tricks me into thinking its some shumatsu adventure and then its just a shmup.
