Items don't despawn, NPCs can be permanently killed (unless vital for story progress), monsters don't respawn unless there is a new chapter. You can claim some building as your own and drop your stuff there and simply larp like you live there. People have their routines and even eat and drink and talk to each other.The other anon is right, only Morrowind would be similar, because the item there also never despawn, but Gothic is still one step ahead.

You can sell a trader tons of stuff (that you stole from chests), then knock him out and take back the 300 gold that you gave him, then cast a spell which makes him like you again, stuff like that. The game encourages you to come up with your own ideas. It's simply a masterpiece.
It's weird that kids compare this game to Morrowind so often now. I guess it's the visuals and the release date, but they are completely different kinds of games.

>>12049953So few games do rain well. TES particularly enrages me that they used cell-based indoor regions and they can't sync weather between zoning. So it's raining outside, you go inside and no different lighting/sound effects. Walk back outside and the rain is totally gone and it's perfectly sunny and dry. Mods have attempted to solve this problem and of course the Toddengines are so inherently bad even they can't quite sync up that level of data.
