1. I lose respect for people as gamers if they are bigger than a mild at most Mario fan because the series is the epitome of mediocre but propped up just because it was the first to do it well 2. Even as a big Sega fan, the Dreamcast has become very overrated. It ruined the company and simply didn't have that many good games, and some of the most "nostalgic" ones people prop up are not good at all

the level of polish in mainline mario games is unmatched. Name 5 platformers as polished as SMB from the same era.
>>12047421>You can be a Nintendo fan or a nintendrone, which is basically synonymous with being a leftist at this point. >Sony fans have anger issues>Auster is multiple anons>The Saturn is better than the Dreamcast >Xbox is better than GameCube >PlayStation is better than N64>Snes is better than the Genesis >Nes is timeless and near perfect
The Rocket Knight games are better than the 16bit sonics.
nintendo badsony goodgive me likes
>>12047886everyone who isn't exclusively into classic PC games is a buckbroken mk ultra mindslave>you're le snoy>you're le tendie>you're le chud>you're le woke>you're le corposhill>you're le ganoo tranny
If you're a fan of the SNES I automatically know you have shit taste and won't take seriously any other opinions you have. To claim to enjoy video games and simultaneously put something as mediocre and underwhelming as the SNES on a pedestal, means either you have levels of cognitive dissonance and delusion only rivaled by that seen in leftists and TIMs, or you are so naive and ignorant that nothing you say should be given consideration. I can think of nearly no better tell for someone lacking any valuable thoughts than if they're an SNES fan. It's the /vr/ equivalent of wearing a face mask in public.
>>12047421>I lose respect for people as gamers if they are bigger than a mild at most Mario fan because the series is the epitome of mediocre but propped up just because it was the first to do it wellDan Hauser saying every 3D game is in some way inspired by Mario 64 makes me pissed off beyond comprehension...As if Ultima Underworld and Doom weren't the ones that spear-headed 3D graphics at the time. Every 3D game owes their inspiration to THEM. Fuck Mario 64.
Are there any good Spawn games? I'm looking for some edgy 90s nostalgia.
Not a hot take but I didn't know there was a 2d Spawn game it actually looks kind of sick. I was only aware of the weak 3d ones.
>>12048498>>12048612The snes one is kinda bad, worth playing I guess, has a lot of different levels and some challenging parts
If you say any 3D games are good at all, you're a tasteless nostalgiafag or modern zoomer larping
Final Fantasy before 6 wasn't that great of a series and Dragon Quest was better in every way imaginable. Don't know if this even counts as a hot take because I'm sure literally everyone who's played both agrees
>>12047421Those aren't as much "hot takes" as long covid-induced cognitive decline but ok buddy
>>120474211. Games don't age.2. Quality can't be properly judged divorced from context; most games that are said to have """aged well""" are merely too simplistic to have fucked anything up significantly, and shouldn't be held in higher regard than other games that focused on vision and innovation while compromising on accessibility in ways that are the time were perfectly acceptable.
>>12047421Console/PC games have always been generally higher quality than arcade games, despite obviously having weaker graphics and sound.
>>12048498There's one for the Dreamcast that's 3D. Think it was a beat 'em up or something.
>>12047421>hecking hot takes>nintembo bad!>sega good!
Gamer apparel negatively affects your charisma: -5 Nintendo, -4 Sony/Microsoft, -3 Sega, -2 Atari/Commodore, -1 SNK/NEC

>>12047421>Even as a big Sega fan, the Dreamcast has become very overrated. It ruined the company and simply didn't have that many good games, and some of the most "nostalgic" ones people prop up are not good at allIt's reasonably overrated, but it does have a lot of neat titles. I'd probably still put it slightly above the gamecube, I feel like most of the people who find it overrated played its major games after the console died and they got ported to every other platform under the sun.>>12049553Yeah, I'll never agree with this one. Arcade mentality is what separates out people who enjoy video games from people who enjoy movies.
>>12049817what if no one but other gamers know what you're wearing?
Random battles in an rpg are fun. That's the game and if you don't like them then you clearly don't like the genre.
>>12050035Generally speaking, I consider gamer apparel to be a sliding scale between childish and pretentious where nintendo stuff is full on childish and SNK/NEC and other obscure brands to be full on pretentious. The childish types usually have super cliched opinions and pretentious types are usually insufferable to talk to, this sliding scale between popular/obscure tends to be true for consumerist hobbies of all types. People who wear understated and plain clothing are unaffected by trends and can enjoy their hobbies without making it their personality.
>>120474213. Your father molested you when you were 8
>>12050204Ok but what if i wear a shirt because I like the design/thing on it?
>>12050234I think other anon is describing his experiences with people who do wear gamer attire in general. You're not on a spectrum from childish to snobish just because really like the Ristar art some guy slapped on a shirt. You might be on a different spectrum though.
>>12050103Random Battles are fun.Having to run into enemies on the overworld to start battles is fun.Scripted battles are fun. Mission based battles like you'd see in a strategy rpg are fun.All these statements are predicated on the battles themselves in any particular game being fun. If battles are a slog then none of the above apply.
>>12047421>Consolewarring faggots and /vr/ elitists are a blight on retro gaming and should be bullied like they were back in middle school.Discussing why you like/dislike a game is completely fine, but the fact some of you feel personally attacked whenever people don't like the same games you do is actually pathetic.
>>12050234Liking something is nice, wearing a thing you like is a signal to others that you like that thing whether you intend it as a signal or not. I firmly believe that gamer apparel negatively affects charisma because of gamer stereotypes, but I'm sure there's lots of decent people out there that love their gamer apparel, I just don't find it appealing because of my interactions with thise kinds of people as >>12050263 said. Autists are usually between childishness and pretention anyways, and for the record I'm the snob here.
>>12049817>>12050204coming from comics as well i generally go for either something minimalist like a logo or something like an "in-universe" company/band/faction/etc. for a similar reason to >>12050035 and what >>12050537 said about signaling to others.ironically only times i've ever gotten bothered by randos were when i wore something more obscure like a quake shirt when i was on vacation or a fallout shirt when i was having lunch with my family before i went to work.
>>12047421Why are you jumping on the bandwagon of redefining "hot take" for no reason at all? Is it because you're stupid? This is a forum about old things so we should not by default use recently popularized definitions favored by 16-year-old retards. Hot takes are about RECENT happenings. Also "bigger than a mild" is retarded phrasing. Put a couple of hyphens in there, you stupid idiot. Go back to school. Read something other than social media. Lose weight while you're at it.
>>12051043hyphens are for text generators. generate another dozen ways to say dumb
>>12047421Agree on both counts. The best Mario is the second one with wart and really the best Mario games are the spinoffs like Kart Tennis and Smash. And Sega's best console was definitely the Saturn instead of the Dreamcast
>>12050375It's melodramatic and I doubt it's as serious as anyone says
