Oh my child, I'm so glad i've found you... Anybody still nestled atop the cliffs? Just did a few runs through I into II and I just love these games. Not really a fan of TOB, but I and II are great. I is a nearly perfect game, with II losing a lot of the adventurous charm with the more fractured map; that said, it makes up for it with great gameplay and memorable characters. Favorite characters? Favorite quests? Zones? For me, coming back to beregost and picking an inn, running around the whole god damn map until every screen is cleared, it's just so fucking soulful. A continguous map that really fees like adventure and peril. Sure, it's a little quaint once you've explored it a few times, but starting out it just feels so huge and mysterious. So far in my adult life I've tried sorcerer and berserker, pretty cool. I'm going to try a fighter/mage next. I am going to dual at level 9, so I expect 9 to ~20 to just freaking suck. Anybody done it before? Going to start in I and grab the tomes then export around level 7 or 8.You sound like Golodon...
I installed SCS (Sword Coast Stratagems) and Bubbs spell menu and they're great. The mages are MUCH more fun to fight, and holy shit god help you when you find a lich. I highly recommend SCS.
Were it not for the Order, the Gods would surely smite OP for his sins
>koverasbravo nolanI probably spent more time on character generation than adventuring fr. Remember encountering a bug where you get multiple wizard rings that gives you extra magic missiles. Game was very boring from then on.
>>12048920with SCS you won't be able to do stuff like that. I haven't tried SCS on BGI because I don't have a recent enough version, but on BGII SCS alters mages such that they become much more intelligent, they run away and try to kite you and shit, cast all their buffs immediately and they use spells and choose targets more intelligently. They'll use stuff like spell turning which requires a secret word or ruby ray to dispel, it makes fights SO much more interesting, especially liches. You just gotta look at the combat log early to make sure you know what the fuck they threw up before it's buried in all the other shit that's going on with them summoning faggots en masse and casting timestops like FAGGOTS. I am telling you I never expected to have so much fun in this game but I've been going hard for an entire month. Just started a fighter who i'm gonna dual into a mage at level 9 so I can have grandmastery in flails. Not sure if this is a great idea but i've never tried it. Supposedly you get your fighter abilities, or specifically your proficiencies, back when you reach a higher level in your second class than your initial class; so in this case I'll get my figher proficiencies back at 18 or 19. So it'll probably be a long gay road until then because doing BGII with a low level mage seems pretty freakin lame desu but it would make late BGII really fun potentially. But I guess the real payoff would be TOB which is sad because I hate what they did with TOB. Still, I'm going to give it a shot.
>>12048920i hate that if you try to kill him, he doesn't teleport away or anything, he just walks into a corner and awkwardly dodges every attack with no dialogue
oh also, for anybody interested in trying BGI again you can get to level 6 in about two hours by rushing the basilisks to the east of the temple screen east of Beregost. You just gotta grab Edwin so he can cast protection from petrification. You can get the scroll from the High Hedge screen west of Beregost, from the mage in the central building there.
>>12050858everybody knows this, you don't need edwin either. you can do it solo with potion of mirrored eyes, but it's only really worth doing if you're some kind of triple class and can use the scrolls anyway.
>>12050873it's worth killing the basilisks for the 1400 to 7k experience they proffer when they are killed, nerd. The potion only lasts one turn so it's fucking stupid and expensive to do that. Some people have a mod that moves Eldoth to the screen east of candlekeep and they just use him. But you can still do it solo by grabbing edwin, having him cast the scroll or memorize the spell and then remove him from the party. At this point in the game you wouldn't be a triple class of any kind because the whole idea is to get to level 6
>>12050894bitch, that's just bypasses the fun part of the game if you're single class.the only good reason to do it would be if you're a F/M/T or something and you're trying to get around the split experience and give your character some basic power before recruiting a party or you're a dumbass speedrunner.>At this point in the game you wouldn't be a triple class of any kind because the whole idea is to get to level 6wut?
>>12050858>anybody interested in trying BGI again you can get to level 6 in about two hours by rushingIf someone is inclined to do that, they probably should postpone their replay until they actually want to roleplay the game
it's just another thing to do in the game retards, holy shit. >you're playing wrongyou sound like fucking golodon right nowin enhanced edition, if you get your PC to level 6 you can pick up whoever you want and have them boosted to your level. Rushing the basilisks is just a quick way to get into cloakwood and then into baldur's gate so you can grab the tomes and export to BG II. Yes, we've all immersed ourselves in BGI but to presume everyone wants to do that in every playthrough is shortsighted and indicative of someone who doesn't actually play the game.As for the retard claiming the only class who'd want to rush the basilisks is a multiclassing queer I don't know what you are even trying to say. You're basically implying that you would multiclass at second level or maybe third, but why? Rushing the basilisks is just a quick way to get started in your run. I doubt you could even articulate your alternative for getting from 1-6. Go ahead and try to do it without sounding like a pedantic cockswain.
>>12051142>getting this mad over pushback against unfun stratslol, just use shadowkeeper, or whatever editor is good now, at that point. >As for the retard claiming the only class who'd want to rush the basilisks is a multiclassing queer I don't know what you are even trying to say. You're basically implying that you would multiclass at second level or maybe third, but why?lmaoanon, do you even know anything about the game or did you watch someone play it? a multiclass character is not a dual class.
i know plenty about the game but not everything about the game, same as you obviously. i've never multiclassed. The notion that only a multiclassed character would benefit from early xp is just stupid, either way.you can call it an unfun "strat" if you want but it's just a way to run the game without using editors as you suggest (like a faggot)
>>12051252multiclassing divides xp you get amongst all classes, so if you are a f/m/t, then it's the equivalent of being a 3 party person as far as xp is concerned, which leaves you quite xp starved. that's the reason the basilisks can help offset that and give you a more interesting playthrough. for a regular character, there's no reason to blow through the bg1 campaign and miss out on the fun of leveling, the tomes aren't worth it, you'd be better off just starting bg2 directly.>same as you obviouslyi was playing ad&d 1st and 2nd edition long before bg1 was made. i know the systems quite well.by the way, direct replies aren't a form of karma, child. they don't mean anything and not using them just makes you look petulant.
>>12051142>Rushing the basilisks is just a quick way to get into cloakwood and then into baldur's gate so you can grab the tomes and export to BG IIORJust start bg2. If you really need the stat boost, edit your save
or i'll just play how I want and you can piss and shit yourself to sleep, holy shit nobody cares. The "fun of leveling" can be experienced a number of ways. For you, it might look like going through your favorite set of quests and battles early on. For me, it's something different. Instead of "petulantly" offering recommendations as to how I should play the game, you could just offer that you enjoy playing it a different way. Nobody gives a fuck. The reason I brought up the basilisks is because for somebody who isn't terribly familiar with the game but would like to play it to reexperience their childhood, it might seem daunting. Getting to level six quickly makes the game more accessible and means you don't have to edit saves or use a console or an editor. You can piss and shit about this all you want, but again, no one cares at all. I'm going to keep running the game how I want, and I don't care how much you know about D&D rules because you obviously don't even know how to have a conversation about a video game
>>12051508lol what a tard.
>>12052136thanks for the bump. it's obvious that your passion for the game is helping to engender a wealth of insightful discussion. your contributions to this thread are valued
>>12052261you're welcome, and yeah, i'm helping noobs understand the game. even though they cry about it.
>>12052274i was shitting on you nerd, your hubris blinds you. You've contributed nothing and I take five points from gryffindor
