Hey /vr/, I'm not up to date when it comes to recently translated video games, were there any exciting releases this year?

Alternatively, what was the last english patched game you enjoyed playing?
>>
Illusion City has an English translation now.

The cowboy bebop ps2 game got translated recently but the last english patched game I played was the ps1 port of Shin Megami Tensei.

where can I find it and is it good?

Spikes site, has it I think.

I got the itch for PC98, a system I never played before. Currently playing Dead of the Brain and enjoying it a lot, amazing artwork and gore in spades. I'll probably move onto Mime once I finish, a dungeon crawler with great art and soundtrack that I always wanted to play even before there was an english patch. Already got Nuked-SC55 working with it so I'm good to go.

Are you the anon from the PC-98 thread a few weeks ago, or is your playing of Dead of the Brain coincidence?
>>
>>12049593
Not that anon, just a coincidence. Didn't even see the thread unfortunately.
>>
>>12049650
That's too bad. In any case, there's a Dead of the Brain 2 translation patch coming out on October 1st, so there's that to look forward to.
>>
>>12048981
Currently playing it. A bit janky but enjoyable. I hope the MSX Translation team will complete Last Armageddon in less than a year.
>>12049681
For real? That's great! Who will release it?
>>
>>12049863
>Last Armageddon

Are the other versions different from the Famicom's?

Nah dude, totally the same game.
>>
>>12049906
MSX version was the only one not shown on mobygames and of course it's the only one that's a different game
>>
>>12049934
That's not the MSX version, dude. You think the MSX can do full CD audio? That's PCE.
>>

>The Nintendo Family Computer version lacks the monster encyclopedia that exists in the other versions of the game. None of the background music in the game resembles that of the PC Engine or the FM Towns version.
>This was most likely because the Famicom version was not only developed by a different company, but also because four different people worked on the soundtrack

It seems to be the same team that did the patch for Dead of the Brain. CrookerWine on translation and JackDBS on hacking.
>>

That one is a classic.

Last translated game I played was Yume Penguin Monogatari (Dream Penguin Adventure). All things considered, I liked it quite a bit. The difficulty ramped up nicely at the end, and the ending screen reveal was quite funny, even in spite of the fact I saw it coming a mile away. Certainly worth checking out if you haven't played it before.
>>
So Japanese computers just died? I wish there was a competitor in today's market I want
>>
>>12050580
Yes, IBM compatibles killed off the native computing scene, just like they killed off the speccy, Amiga, and C64. Can you imagine having to buy a secondary computer with inferior software support just for the sake of modern doujinsoft? The one world standard was a good thing.
>>
>>12050942
I really don't want the standard
>>
>>12050953
Then install crappy shell replacements so you can LARP as if you're using some super obscure system architecture.
>>
>>12050580
you can easily turn them on whenever you like
>>
>>12050214
I played the Retronomicon translation of the first game.
>>
>>12048974
Opening Megami Tensei 2 with an unavoidable miniature version of Megami Tensei 1 that you can't skip around to see what MT2 actually looks like until you spend the hour or so it takes to finish it was a pretty ballsy move
>>
>>12050961
That's not what I want
>>
>>12052598
When I played it, I knew nothing about the game. Hadn't even played 1 or any other title in the series. Didn't even check the manual or anything.

So after that intro I really got a nice surprise. It felt like I had avoided a spoiler bigger than Aeris' death somehow.

>there's an update on the site for that specific game the next day
This happened several times before.
>>
>>12052598
its not ballsy if you actually played megaten 1 and actually read the megaten 2 manual, or watched a commercial, or looked at the box.

And it's done. Very short but fun and charming game. Gameplay-wise, I didn't like that you had to pixel hunt every inch of the screen several times in order to unlock new actions but other than that it was fine. I hope the sequel is just as good.
>>
>>12049906
I really hope this version gets translated
Same with Emerald Dragon PCE version
PCE chads continue eternal suffering
>>
>>12053634
I loved the settings, too, and the graphics.

>one world standard
x86-64, ARM64, RISC-V, we still don't have just one standard arch.
