Burntime (1993) has gotten a free fan remaster that restores cut content and fixes bugs. Graphics can be toggled between remastered and classic. Can be played in two player hotseat.

Classic post apocalyptic strategy game. Very overlooked and atmospheric.
I DID NOT MAKE THIS GAME OR REMASTER.
I just love it and want to spread the word. Any other Burntime fans on here? Share strategies and tips. Anyone played the original on DOS or Amiga? I had the Amiga version.

Nigga what? I posted it on v and got sent here.

I have this on RetroArch, but haven't really played it yet. Cool to see a remaster. I've heard good things about the game.
I've tried the Amiga version. Sound is good, but gameplay is a bit slow and I think the DOS version has better resolution, so I'm going with that one.

Both og versions have a lot of bugs and I'm pretty sure the Amiga version can't be completed. I'd suggest this version because it fixes all of that. You can even toggle the amiga music if that's what you prefer.

I was thinking about trying the remaster. Is it possible to toggle original graphics? Not a fan of how the upscaling looks. Otherwise I'll stick with RA if the DOS bugs aren't game breaking.

The graphics are toggleable, yes.

Oh right. I didn't notice it was already mentioned in the OP. Cool, I'll give it a try.

Basically you have a few large cities on the map which you need to conquer by taking control of the small settlements that directly surround the cities. You can recruit fighters and leave them in a settlement to take it over. These settlements can then be used as sources for food and water when you pass through them again. Leave a knife to farm maggots, a snake basket to farm snakes, rat traps for rats and regular traps for meat. You can check what can be farmed by pressing INFO on the settlement. Nit every resource can be farmed in every town. You need protective suits and gasmask to take over certain areas that are contaminated. You have fighters, doctors that heal you passively and techitians which can repair stuff and build stuff like traps. You have wandering merchants that you can trade with and every major city has a merchant, doctor, diner and bar. Every settlement has a source of water. Water replenishes itself after a few ingame days after it runs dry. The rest you can figure out by yourself, but that is about it. The manual doesn't really explain the game well.

Is Burntime even a word? Why didn't they call it Burn Time? Despite all that it's a weird name for a video game.

They're austrian, give them a break.

I've been interested in this ever since I saw it on an abandonware site. But was kept back by the need to run it through an Amiga emulator.

sounds like proto-Kenshi
>>
>>12051065
Yeah, he got permission from the original creators, rewrote the whole thing and is giving it away for free, all because he loves the game, what do you call that?
>>
>>12051128
Fair enough; after all, "remaster" is nonsensical when it comes to videogame re-releases regardless of who's involved.
>>
>>12051084
Never played Kenshi but if it's anything like this I'll give it a try.

Kenshi sucks

Forgot to add that the people you leave at settlements are self sustaining. You only need to worry about their food and water intake when they are in your party. Walking into a source, house or cave with water, you and everyone in your party automatically drinks. Be aware of this if you just want to refil with one character. Eating food and drinking water is shared between everyone in your party, regardless of who's inventory you're eating/drinking from. You need to seperate from the group, eat, then return if you want only an individual to eat or drink.
