>tfw half of my GBA cartridges don't work anymore
clean the semen off the contacts
>>12049346Open em up
sell them and buy a flashcart
>>12049346Emu / flash chads win again
>>12049393People buy broken carts?
>>12049346that only happens to gross people
>>12049528Ancient Chinese secret.
>>12049346REPLACE THE BATTERY. Yes it has a battery. That's how it saves your game without an external save card.
>>12049550>niggas be doin all this instead of buying a flash cart
>>12049528Yes, most of the time they're repairable. In the case of OP, with that many not working, there's a 98% chance they just need to be cleaned. Carts can just go kaput, but it's rare
>>12049551Flash carts aren't the originals. Some people collect originals.
>>12049559Then you have to gut them and swap parts so whats the point, they're not original when you start swapping components
>>12049346Just emulate.
>>12049562Replacing the battery hardly counts as swapping components.
>>12049601Sorry, but the unit's been damaged.Best i can do is like two bucks.
>>12049604It's already become the norm. That's why there are so many sites showing you how to replace batteries to keep old games running as well as ones that offer the exact batteries you need to do it. Annd that norm will keep growing as stuff keeps on getting older.BUT I do see your perspective collectors who value condition over playability won't buy that stuff. But then again they're the kind that'll pay for a game sealed away in a plastic case while "officially graded." They're not gamers who want to play the actual vintage games. But vintage gamers already know that replacing batteries is the norm now. Even vintage consoles need battery replacements as well as stuff like old memory cards.
>>12049627I have my original copy of Pokemon Silver that I'm refurbishing with a new case, label, and battery exactly because I care about its sentimental value more than its monetary value. I had tried to make the thing fit into my DS ages ago and since then it's been all cut up and hasn't held a save for the last fifteen years, I'm excited to bring it back to how it used to look.
>>12049643Yep. As cart games get older, the more work it'll take to keep them playing. Even the disc-based systems need batteries to keep the consoles and memory cards going.
>>12049559>>12049601>>12049627just admit that you don't actually like playing games and just want to coomlect
>>12049709Admit that you don't care for collecting and playing the actual originals as long as you get the ROMs.
>>12049709I like both.
>>12049562>game cartridge of theseus
>>12049736>>12049713That's what I'll be doing with my pkmn Silver, it's going to be all reproduction except the actual ROM board
Kill yourself
>>12049551It's not exactly rocket science you pleb. You do know how to solder, right anon?
>>12049604This way of thinking is great though, I've been able to buy plenty of GameBoy games for dirt cheap as a result.
>>12049604I keep the original batteries in labeled Ziploc bags. Is my autism terminal?
>>12049432lmao saved
>>12049346Good news everyone! OPs GBA cartridges work 50% more than they/thems brain.
>>12049550>Yes it has a batteryIncorrect, not all GBA games used SRAM to save data. Some used EEPROM or Flash, which does not need a battery. N64 was like this too, in fact, the majority of N64 games that saved to the cart were not battery-backed SRAM.
>>12049346>GBA cartridges don't work anymorethe world is healing sad frogposter
This >>12049563
>12049751>still seething so hard over using repro parts

>>12050862pepe originated in 2005
>j-just emulate broNo GBA emulator has a link cable implementation that works with real-time games over the Internet. The only real option is a flashcart.
>>12049807I bought a kit and never used it...
>>12049551>"niggas"you have to be 18 to post here
>>12049352>deseasoning the metalit works better that way
>>12052246The age rule needs to be upped to 28.
>>12054014So you just turned 28?
>>12054905*pic reddit quip bro!!
>>12049713A cartridge is just packaging for a ROM, same as the cardboard and plastic wrap it came in. You're irrationally fetishizing a piece of plastic and a sticker.
