I don't care for original hardware. PS2 in 1080p is kino of the highest order. I do have a proper dualshock driver installed tho for the few games that require button sensitivity. Turns every DS3 into a DS2
>5th gen and before on MiSTer>6th gen original hardware>all routed directly to the fuckhuge 36" CRT on my deskYep, it's retro gaymen time.
I play ps2 and gamecube on my crt. I had an old anbernic 35gxx lying around and wanted to play it on my TV and got a 20$ hdmi to av converter on amazon and surprisingly without any sort of tinkering, it works perfectly. So now I can play dreamcast, ps1 and other shit on my crt and it looks like im playing from console
>>12052463trvth big bang
>>12052363RGB is a meme and you dont need it.
Original hardware only matters if there's some hardware-induced feature in the game like slowdown. And even then it only really needs to be preserved so we can check what the original was really like. Hardware eventually breaks down and the important part is the games.
>>12052363What console-based emulators do you all use? I'm referring to things like an NES emulator on the Genesis.https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Emulators_on_2nd_generation_consoles
>"boy oh boy I can't wait to play my original disc games on my original Playstation(tm) 2(tm)! Nothing can possibly go wrong!"

>>12052363>Softmodding not mentionedSounds like you don't know shit, OP!
>>12052457Godddaaaaaamn owned.MisterPi is great. OP is a salty faggot retard that doesn't understand how good it is for N64 vs emulation. Sure a Summercart 64 cart is way better but damn man, for the consoles and classic computers you can run on it, it is amazing.I like how you can really use any controller you want, or use the real deal controllers. It's a nice touch.I'm glad we have options and live in this timeline.
>>12052482Actual Nigger tiert only dude I ever knew that used his phone with touch controls was a black dude from the Bronx.
>>12052505Fuck yeah brother
>>12052554Input lag hell. To hell with that shit. If you're going to give money to the Chinese then get a MisterPi.Even a used Steam Deck is better than those chink handhelds.
>>12055029I use a Slim PS2 with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ that has PSX-Pi to share games via Ethernet. It's dope as fuck and there is no advantage of having a fat PS2 as a result.
>>12055528>>12055029>Elder God tier>original hardware with flash carts, ODEs or CFW played on a CRT and only minor modifications or upgrades to improve image quality (RGB cables)>CFWGood job on not reading the OP.
>>12052363Noice
>>12052363I pretty much agree
>>12056156I read it. I just brought up an issue that exists with real hardware. My PS2 is modded. My wii is modded. All my handhelds are modded. That doesn't change the fact that there's no catch-all, one-size-fits-all solution for all games, especially for retro consoles now 20-30 years removed from when they were new and the surrounding technology has changed so much. Try playing Duck Hunt on a flat screen led tv.
I'm a real hardware on a CRT type of guy but I'd just be happy with people playing more retro games anyways they can. Maybe raise their standards so they stop consuming modern slop.
>>12052505Truly the best option for 5th gen and back is mister. Can get native component video out and not deal with shitty SHART cables with their endless audio buzz
>>12052363Burning new old stock CD-Rs on your old computer to play PS1 games https://youtu.be/9okfVdxinkY?si=JwKafA9uncT5EmFd
I own several hundreds of games and some consoles but the only way I ever had any fun playing a jrpg was laying on a hammock playing on a chinkheld until I beat the games. I could never picture myself sitting in front of a TV in my living room and grinding random encounters over and overI also don't care too much about playing on old handhelds even though I own some it doesn't do it for me like big consoles. I'd rather be emulating those too.
>>12056640I like a lot of the switch jrpg remakes for this reason
>>12054535I think you need it for 480i
>>12052363>Elder God tierMore like "elder snob". If you bother with real hardware, minmaxing the video output is a pointless sham.
>>12055029Who the fuck uses a slim for retro games
