What am I in for?

So far sold most of the leather equipment for spikey mace and only died to the cheap lava pit near the bugs.
>>
It's just a kind of enjoyable exploration game but not as great as the shills who played Souls games and then went back to play this would have you believe.
>>
>>12053103
Nice smooth ride then after a couple of hours the game really opens up. Did you get the pick axe yet? Completing the mines is important as is getting the fireball spell.
>>
>>12053103
a bigger game than you realize
>>
>>12053106
Tried DS1, didn't like it, have ignored anything soulslike since then
>>12053107
No, last think I did was killing some trees near a small house
>>12053120
That's good, I was looking for something with exploration without too much story/cutscenes
>>
>>12053103
stop pretending to enjoy it
>>
>>12053103
a shit game in a shovelware series that would be completely forgotten about if it werent for a different overrated series
>>
>>12053103
lol look at that box art. It doesn't even look real.
>>
>>12053869
It's the utter poverty European distributor. I dunno how Agetec blows away your production values but they did
>>
One of the best games on the PS2 no joke. I think it's way better than the PS1 trilogy
>>
>>12053103
Dark souls shills aside it's one of my favorite ps2 games...

It's a very unique experience and call me weird but I actually like it when I have to dig through ancient game FAQs to find a real answer for wtf is going on
>>
>>12054005
One of the few times a series established on the PS1 actually classed up on the PS2.
>>
>>12053869
looks better than most cover arts today prove me wrong. obviously being european they went for an artistic avant garde approach.
>>
>>12054019
Final Fantasy
Dragon Quest
Shin Megami Tensei
Twisted Metal
Mortal Kombat

Did it too
>>
>>12053131
Kings Field IV is literally just Dark Souls 1 in first person (or rather Dark Souls 1 is King's Field IV in third person)
>>
>>12053103
Best in the series. Enjoy and don't let others spoil your journey.
>>
>>12053103
get the pickaxe and use it on the planks boarding up the mine. The game doesn't actually explain that this is what you are supposed to do.
>>
>>12054401
It's sort of a middle ground between DeS and DaS1, though it's closer to the latter than Shadow Tower. KF2 is more like DaS1
>>
>>12054415
Yeah I can see that.
>>
>>12054139
Only one of those started on PS1.
>>
>>12053103
I like souls games but holy shit, that cover art looks like utter bargin bin fare.
>>
The cover is from a cutscene
>>
>>12054698
>that cover art looks like utter bargin bin fare.
>>12054698
>The cover is from a cutscene

lmao

This one is worse.
>>
>>12054874
that's a cool cover, what the fuck is wrong with you
>>
>>12054875
Not him but it's generic and doesn't says shit about the game, OP one is better
>>
>>12054887
>cover
>doesn't says shit about the game
That's how you know it's a good cover, you plebian retard
>>
>>12054875
Comical font.
>>
>>12054898
You're retarded
>>
once you enter the city. You slowly decend the tower into hell. Its kino
>>
If it had free move it would have been better.
>>
I played it a while ago, made a thread where I posted pics from the old FromSoftware games I was playing through. The thread petered out once I got reached KF4.

I've beaten quite a few of old FROM games but I remember starting Evergrace and thinking it's jank and tedious even by low budget 6th gen games standards. I've also heard that the bonus dungeon is fucking impossible but your posts make me want to give it another go
>>
>>12055441
Evergrace is really short and it was pretty easy, I only wasn't ready for the Shadow Tower bonus dungeon when I first tackled it. Forever Kingdom was *awful* and I almost quit on the final boss.
>>
I'm not a From-dork at all. Only ever tried Bloodbourne twice, and dropped it pretty quick both times. In fact, I have more hours in Elemental Ring than BB. Where do I start with KF?
>start with 1, idiot
I'll ask another way: Which KF has the tightest presentation of its formula?
>>
It’s cool but kind of a disappointment compared to the first 3. It’s much more polished but it’s less ambitious.
>>12053803
seething retard lol
>>
>>12053103
>What am I in for?
I'd say it's a bad one to start with, it's the slowest one in the series.
>>
>>12054874
Are you actually European or just some slav sniffing their jock
>>
>>12054139
>final fantasy x-xii was better than vii-ix

this is bait right? no one is actually this retarded, please tell me this is fucking bait
>>
>>12055761
>>12055778
Whiter than both of you.
>>
>>12054415
>It's sort of a middle ground between DeS and DaS1, though it's closer to the latter than Shadow Tower. KF2 is more like DaS1

Explain this
>>
>>12055502
I'd recommend starting with KF III (released as KF II in the US).
IMO It's the tightest playing. It's my favorite as well.
KF 4 is smoother running but doesn't feel as much an adventure.
>>
>>12053103
good game, love it.

Play Spriggan too
>>
>>12054139
>Final Fantasy
HAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>12056125
King's Field IV has a hubworld and it's almost level based in its nature but there are still enough shortcuts for it to be somewhat similar to Dark Souls 1. Shadow Tower has like 2 shortcuts in the entire game iirc and it's entirely level based
>>
>>12054139
>Final Fantasy
NES RPG.
>Dragon Quest
NES RPG.
>SMT
NES RPG.
>Twisted Metal
PSX series, valid.
>Mortal Kombat
Arcade fighter.

This barely refutes my point because the only title here that started out on PlayStation was Twisted Metal. Mortal Kombat was also pretty dire on the PS2 as well.
>>
>>12053103
>thread about King's Field
>retards sperging out over an unrelated IP
fucking pathetic
why can't you dipshits just talk about the game op is referencing without losing your shit?
>>
>>12056310
They didn't play King's Field and are now jealous.
>>
>>12056310
Honestly they're fine games to play through but they don't have much staying power. There's a moderate skill floor to get to grips with them but the skill ceiling is extremely low so you don't really get any sense of mastery after you get the basics. They're short and simple and the stories are nothing. The atmosphere is good but I don't know how you go on a retro forum and be like "ooh the atmosphere, the atmosphere" to other people. If you want to take the time it takes to play one major JRPG you can play the entire King's Field series + Shadow Tower + Abyss you'll have a pretty good time and I don't have much to say beyond that.
>>
>>12056359
I loved the first (JP), started the second and just got burnt out dealing with the warp stones.
>>
>>12054005
The gameplay looks so damn slow though. I like how the graphics are much better since PS2 was a huge leap from PS1 and I also think these games probably benefit a lot from having better graphics but it still looks so damn slow. I would like to see them do a modern take on the series with a sequel.
>>
>>12054887
You're an idiot. I can tell it's a fantasy game, medieval-based, likely an RPG, and probably has a dark and gloomy atmosphere, all from the cover. You're either retarded, or trolling.
