Pathologic was a great piece of art, but as an actual game it's dogshit. the gameplay loop is miserable and actively antagonistic to having fun o feeling any sense of accomplishment. it's absolutely perfect for portraying a feeling of being in a bullshit situation where you have to fight to succeed, and then even when you do it's a phyrric victory with no lasting benefit. i fucking love it, but i'm never going to play it to completion.that said i have no fucking idea what you mean by esoteric games.if you just mean wildly experimental shit i might suggest the original version of baroque. it might be really easy as far as roguelikes go but it has just the right vibe.
