EQEmu is kill.RIP classic EverQuest.1999-2025
Explain. So you can't play eq 1 right now? Daybreak doesn't run a server? There's not one available on github?
>>12059192The official servers aren't even remotely classic, not even the TLPs.General story: there was a private server called THJ that was a little too popular and on top of that the admins were raking in 6 figures a month from pay-to-win "donations". They ended up getting sued and shut down by a court injunction and Daybreak is now personally suing everyone involved. The guy who runs EQEmu is freaking out because 1.) he doesn't want to get sued and 2.) the court injunction was so vague it might include the entire EQEmu project despite not even being named in the case. So he permanently shut down the project entirely, which includes not just the server software but all the services most private servers relied on.P99 has some sort of license agreement with DBG so they'll be unaffected for whatever that's worth.
>>12059162if p99 is still up then it's fine? I thought that's how people preferred to play it? I played EQ back when it was new (Fenin Ro) and thought P99 looked interesting but I don't really have the time to invest in that kind of grind at the moment
>>12059261>p99the classic database might be more accurate or whatever than your typical classic eqemu server but you'll be playing exclusively with modern audience types and jaded neckbeards so the experience is as far from classic as it getsalso they can't even create fresh servers due to contract constraints so if you even manage to find a group it'll just be you getting powerleveled by the twinks of some guys who have been playing there for 5-10 years, plus the endgame is fully monopolized with no room for (You) unless some boomer dies irl
