Dreamcast homebrew mental gymnastics>burn homebrew with some old 2000s program>get a serial port to sd card adapter that barely works even after cleaning the port using a qtip with alcohol>sd card has to be 4gb or less>none of the gd ripping programs make a gdi file that i can actually extract the files from>programs to convert bin/cue into gdi are all C#shit that don't work on linux unless you suck microsoft's nonfree cock>broadband adapter required for dcload-ip>it costs 200 dollars>nobody has attempted to make a new one, or better yet a usb adapter that goes in the port, perhaps something for the controller port like mx4sioPS2 homebrew mental gymnastics>get a card with fmcb>put your homebrew on the usb>...>profit>dreamcast homebrew scene pretends they beat the ps2 because of some programming optimizations that brings things up to the level of an average ps2 game??????????????????
GDemu just works bro, idk what to tell you
>>12059217GDEmu is pretty good.I could complain about PS2 homebrew too desu, GDEmu compatibility percentage is way higher then OPL and even neutrino, sure most games work but theres still lots of outliers and weird glitches, even when running from HDD.Just look at this list: https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/page/opl-game-compatibility-list-1there isnt a list like it for GDemu, it just works. No need to look up what mode to enable and disable in a fucking spreadsheet each time you wanna play a game
>tranux user complaining that something is obtuse and hard to useloll
>>12059346Windows 7 is never coming back bro, it's time to join the future.

Simples
>>12059421you need to install a new PSU too if you're installing one of these things
>>12059320Not OP and I have no experience with Dreamcasts or GDEmu, but that OPL comparability chart is full of shit>"OLDER OPL VERSIONS">PADEMU issue>Virtual memory card issue>USB>SMB issueAre like 95% of the problems listed. Not to mention most of them are 6-8+ years old. In my own experience after beating around 20 games from my PS2's hard drive and not bothering with any of the esoteric shit like saving to virtual memory cards, the only game that's given me any issue was Time Splitters doing this weird deinterlaced shit when you sometimes start it up. It could be fixed by either resetting the PS2 until the game displayed normally, or enabling a specific mode in OPL.https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11040
>>12059429Required or recommended?
>>12059437highly recommended
>>12059437Sorry to not answer your question because im not sure. But Dreamcast PSU's are all dying and if they arent dead they are causing all kinds of weird issues due to being nearly dead.it only costs like 10 euro on aliexpress to buy a DreamPSU, and its SUUUUPPERRR easy to install. Installing the GDEmu is also super easy.
>>12059446Nice, that's good to know. Was planning on getting a gdemu soon
>>12059446>lasers dying>PSUs dying>gd-roms meltingjesus what a POS
>>12059282>>12059320>>12059421I'm not interested in an ODE just homebrew stuff
>>12059437btw i got the GDemu without all that extra plastic and the SD card extender, and im happy with it. im not taking the SD card out, and even if I am its not much harder to do without the extender.
i have $50,00 dollars ready to fund the ps2 ode who can play ps1 games
>>12059437>>12059442>>12059446This is only half accurate.Power delivery is often the silent issue, and the stock PSU itself often over-faulted. The PSU plug pins on the DC motherboard corrode around where the PSU connects, and that corrosion prevents proper conductivity. If you just swap out the PSU for a new one without cleaning up the pins and removing that corrosion, you can potentially damage or fry your motherboard.>unplug DC>discharge it through the power button several times>take the top cover off>remove the PSU>clean the PSU plug pins thoroughly with some isopropyl alcohol, some q-tips, and a toothbrush >clean the PSU socket>plug the PSU back in>testThere's a decent chance your stock PSU is fine.
>>12059217actually for dreamcast its:>burn game to 700mb cdr>play game
