Super Famicom has better anime licensed games than Saturn and PS1.What happened during the CD era? I can only think of GitS on PS1 being good. Jojo on Dreamcast if you want to include ports.
The PS1 is the queen of licenced anime game anon
>>12059364Such as?The DBZ games are all worse than the 16bit ones. The Sailor Moon game is the worst SM game. The Ranma game is the worst Ranma game.Etc.What are you going to mention? Vampire Hunter D? Gunm? They are nice curiosities but far from good games that are fun to play.
GitsLeiji Matsumoto gamesDr slumpGeGeGe no KitarÅ gamesGunm (with the continuation of the manga story)Macross do you remember loveMacross vf-x2Hokuto no kenJojoThe Gundam gamesYu gi ho forbiden memories...
>>12059389I don't want to be mean, some of those have soul. I already mentioned GitS on the OP. These franchises or most of them habe berter games on SFC.
>>12059345>What happened during the CD era? It's not the CD era but the 3D era.I'll make it quick: most game franchises didn't successfully make the jump to 3d, specially not during the 32bits/64bits era.The advantage 16bits consoles had was that they could have attractive enough 2d graphics (which could depict more of less faithfully the anime shows' characters) AND a large pool of proven successful gameplay formulas to take inspiration from. For example, the game you posted (Ghost Sweeper Mikami) took A LOT of inspiration from the Valis: The Fantasm Soldier series (which was already a success by the time).Anime licensed JRPGs took inspiration from already established franchises such as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, anime fighters from Street Fighter, etc. They didn't have to essentially reinvent the wheel or try to adapt to the third dimension in games.>>12059370Btw>The DBZ games are all worse than the 16bit onesI recommend you try Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6cGTqNn1-oDragon Ball Z Legendshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxdV2o0L8sAand Dragon Ball GT: Final Bouthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L96o77rmRF4And outside of that I also recommend Macross Plus, and Digimon World 1 & 2 for the PSX.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HViaU8tnJEY>>12059389And second the Ghost in the Shell, Gundam Batlte Assault and JoJo Bizarre Adventure recs.
>>12059721Yeah I played these 3 DBZ games back in the 90s as I was/am a huge DB nerd.Neither UB22 or Final Bout are as good as the 16bit games, even with the big rosters, the games are still not fun.Legends is interesting because it's so different from any other DBZ game, that's the only one I liked from that era.Hyper Dimension on SFC mogged them all though.
>>12059728Too bad you couldn't enjoy them. I had a blast. Also, the point still stands: the struggles anime games had in that era were mostly due to the pressure their publishers had to make 3d games (when 3d games were still in their infancy as far as consoles were concerned).
just avoid this turd
>>12059721>>12059345Oh, and I just remembered two other games: Super Robot Wars Alpha and Alpha gaiden, which are better than their previous entries.
This game look awesomeA 2D Konami game from december 2003 on PS1
>>12059721>>12059737>>12059749And of course, you have to take into account the economical factor: 32bits/64bits era games were quite more expensive to produce than 8bit/16bits era games. Which explains why there were considerably fewer anime licensed titles than in the latter.
>>12059759No they are much more games on PS1 +You gain much more money with a PS1 gamehttps://automaton-media.com/en/news/capcom-veteran-says-nintendo-was-the-only-one-making-steady-revenue-from-nes-game-carts-capcoms-profits-really-took-off-with-the-ps1/
>>12059743>It's the anon obsessed with trying to convince people that Banpresto is bad
>>12059767>No they are much more games on PS1Not when it comes to anime licensed games. You can literally look up the Famicom and Super Famicom catalogs and you'll find games for basically ANY anime show you could think of. This unfortunately didn't happen in the 32bits/64bits era.>You gain much more money with a PS1 gameNot necessarily. The lower production cost of CDs is only part of the equation. The development costs of anime licensed games in the 16bits (and specially the 8bits) eras were of course much lower than a game for the fucking Playstation.
>>12059749>which are better than their previous entries.Debatable, I prefer the WinkySoft games. More challenging.
>>12059782Fair enough. But when it comes to their visuals and sound at least they were clear improvements.
>>12059784They have some beautiful 2D spritework but so do the WinkySoft games. As for soundtrack, I actually think Alpha's renditions are weaker than F's ones (Saturn ver)
>>12059780>you'll find games for basically ANY anime show you could think of.>Doubt
>>12059802>They have some beautiful 2D spritework but so do the WinkySoft games.Yes, but if we're talking objectively, Alpha and Alpha Gaiden have higher sprite resolution and more complex and better animations.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDRtYR2kHb0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkWtFqRDABc>As for soundtrack, I actually think Alpha's renditions are weaker than F's ones (Saturn ver)Glad we agree the 32bits era SRW games sound better.
>>12059757Didn't know about this one and I played the Famicom and GBA games (GBA also by Konami), looks cool
>>12059814>Glad we agree the 32bits era SRW games sound better.I actually think a lot of the PS arrangements are really weak
>>12059825Ok. And? Saturn is 32bits too.>>12059814P.S. I already made my point here >>12059721If OP or whoever else can't come up with a better explanation as to WHY anime licensed games generally declined in quality that's on them. Nostalgia isn't an argument.Good bye.
>>12059778Oh, it's a schizo. Of course it is.My mistake for assuming I was talking to a rational person.
>>12059743oops I read your post
>>12059345I don't understand what are you even complaining about. that 5th gen consoles sucks?
>>12059345It's easier to make 2d games. Nobody would consider these super Nintendo licenses games to be among the best on the console and this is largely true regardless of the era. Nothing special secondary (or even tertiary) adaptations.
>>12059830>If OP or whoever else can't come up with a better explanation as to WHY anime licensed games generally declined in quality that's on them.Have you tried fucking playing them with some modicum of standards? You unironically recommended Ultimate Battle 22 and Final Bout despite both being considered kusoges even by people with nostalgia for them. UB22 sucks major ass, and Final Bout is a really slow and janky Butouden. Idainaru Densetsu is decent and the best 32-bit DBZ game but still not ideal, and Shin Butouden on Saturn is sadly not good.
>>12059345The best anime license game.
>>12059345Vampire Hunter D was a neat RE clone, the PS1 also had three Slayers games
>>12061485To be honest, Gundam Endles Wing is one of the greatest non-arcade fighting games of any console. The Battle Assault games look nice but don't play nearly as good.
>>12061510Great now teh 300 dollerino gaem can battle with the n64 library of gems
>>12061672>n64 library of gems
i jerked off a lot to the psx GITS cover so psx wins
>>12059757Konami did a bunch of anime games by the early 00's (the Kuro-chan one was bad)
