Honestly the twist of Cloud wanting to become SOLDIER so much that it caused him trauma, and made him impersonate someone else and live an illusion created by his mind, and also one of the Sephiroth clones that creepily roam the earth like a religious cult worshiping searching fir their god. Really shocked my mind, it’s really superb storytelling. Sad that the overall story is undercooked which makes me believe they probably took it from some other work.

Cloud never actually impersonated Zack though, he only placed himself where Zack was during the Nibelheim incident. Cloud always had his awkward edgelord personality. In Rebirth he remembers Zack, but he still thinks he was in Soldier and they were partners.
