Interesting point..

Though I grew up with NES/SNES/PS1, and I never revisit those games. I found my love of RPGs later, and most of my top 10 I played during adulthood.

It would have to be a mix of retro and modern. The list changes and I'm likely just not thinking of some that I liked much better than some of these. Memory is fickle.

Just adding on to this to answer the second part of the question. I played Final Fight and Doom when I was growing up. Honestly even though I played a ton of games since the 80s I wasn't particularly obsessed with of most of them. I played them and moved on.

Games I grew up with:
-Resident Evil 1 and 2 (literally when I was only about 5 years old. Can't remember my exact age at that time for some reason. But one thing is for sure, at such a short age Resident Evil is seriously very scary).
-Crash Bandicoot
-Starcraft 1
-Diablo II
-Warcraft 3
-Nightmare creatures 1 (and good memories from playing 2 at the house of an elementary schoolmate at age 11 because he just happened to buy it and I had played it already before. Such a good luck since it was a used to be a very unheard about video game).
