Post N64 games that actually play better with the N64 controller.
>>12060567All of them. A tougher challenge would be to name ones that don't.
>>12060572Meh, most racing games can be played with a steering wheel, on real hardware or through emulation. Mario kart 64 on a wheel is so fun.
Pretty much any game that uses the 6 face buttons would qualify.

Controllers are all pretty interchangeable for the experience to me. There isn't a single game improved by a Playstation controller or Xbox or dreamcast or n64 for me. As long as I have all the buttons and sticks the game needs I don't care. I've never had a single issue with any controller people call bad.
I think starfox 64 probably works better with the centered joystick than something like a modern control with it on the left side. could be wrong. Feels more like a flight stick that way. Also I played it with a cheap flight joystick once and it was cool but hard. Maybe I needed to calibrate it or practice more.

>>12060567Many of them, due to the c buttons.
>>120607142D games need a controller with a good D-pad. Playing NES games with a 360 controller is awful
>>12060572Agreed, all of them.
>>12060714The N64 analog is actually a pretty low precision all things considered. Many games are designed with the gate shape in mind due to that. For example there are jumps in Donkey Kong 64 and Mario 64 that are easy on a gated stick but much more difficult on a "free" one due to the devs setting the camera positions to take advantage of the gate alignment.
No fuck that I play all my N64 games with an Atari VCS controller
>>12062593This is true
>>12060567Rolling around as a Goron in Majora's Mask is a pain in the ass without the original controller
>>12063650the problem is not precision, it is the response curve.n64 stick doesn't follow a linear response curve. it is more like a square root curve.so all you need for a standard stick to feel better for n64 games is to make it follow a similar response curve.gamepad phoenix can do that if you adjust the sensitivity slider into the negative numbers.
