Is Gungrave Overdose any good? Most of the reviews say it sucks but I wonder what /vr/ thinks. I've only played Gungrave 1 and watched the anime.

>>12063919I fuckin love Gungrave. It’s criminal how ridiculously underrated it is. Hack & slashes got played out when it was released but it’s still pretty good. Anime was just as good.
>>12063919Uhh the reviews and the people around the time it came out said it was better than the first game and was pretty good for a budget title.
You could just play it and find out for yourself
The first game is lightning in a bottle, just a really enjoyable early sixth gen action game that's short and sweet. Overdose is an ugly fucking headache, everything about it feels like a major step down from the first despite a ton of new additions. Less was more in this case.
>>12063921So we shouldn't talk about retro video games on /vr/? What kind of thread would you prefer?
>>12063919I remember beating the first game in one day as a kid, was pretty fun and felt like a good version of DMC2 (aka guns are OP but the rest of the game isn't horrible)But then I started out Overdose, tried out all three playable characters and never went further than second of third level with any of them. Not sure why, now that I think about (maybe I had Gungrave "overdose" by beating the first one in a single day).

>>12063919The stages are all longer and the game runs at half the framerate, making it sort of miss that pure arcade energy the original had. It also has way too much dialogue/conversations getting in the middle of everything as opposed to the original, though I did like a certain "plot-twist". Still worth trying out if you liked the original and the anime.
>>12063972By all means discuss retro games but keep your opinions to yourself and don't ask others about theirs. 'Opinions are like assholes' and whatnot.
