Why does Quake 64 look so faithful to the original when Doom 64 looks really weird though
lol
>>12064338Because it's nearly a direct port of the gameUnlike Quake II which had different levels
>>12064338It looks like the original if played at 320x240 resolution in software mode maybe
>>12064338Because the N64 port of Quake is just that, a port of Quake for the N64. It's not even called Quake 64, it's just QuakeDoom 64 is a completely unique Doom game. It's not a port of Doom or Doom 2, it's a unique original game
>>12064369I guess we won’t be seeing this thread again now that the question’s been adequately answered.
>>12064391I genuinely didn't see the other threads before I posted
>>12064404You're a cheeky fucker.
>>12064369N64 port of Quake? Gross. I'll take the Saturn port with a 3D pad any day
>>12064889N64 version has better performance but the Saturn port of Quake is genuinely impressive considering the hardware and is arguably graphically superior in a few ways including level geometry and dynamic lighting from explosions and gunfire
>>12064359It's downgraded glquake(soulless)
>>12064965I like Saturn Quake because it has shorter load times than n64 and is basically a PowerSlave mod.
>>12064338>Quake 64>faithful
>Quake 64>Doom 64
>>12065705It is a lot more colorful for some reason.
>>12065765Original Quake didn't have colored lighting. With Quake 64 instead of keeping it subtle like you should they just went with primary colors for whatever reason which makes it look pretty garish. Probably a case of developers overusing a shiny new feature, like bloom in the mid 2000s.
>>12065765It's a trick to make up for the simplified geometry. I do like it though.
>>12065773x2But the colors are neat... stylish in a tacky way.
>>12065748shhhdon't upset the nintenlovers
>>12065748Quake 64 lets you turn off the filter, which is for the better since Quake's assets weren't made for it.Doom 64 is more bespoke to the N64, but stuff like Doom 64EX and the new ports let you turn off the filter, which is still for the better.
