>>12066587Bongoloids never made a good game and Rare was the worst offender.
>>12066595Wrong
>reward for 100% is being told to buy the sequel in order to unlock the secrets hidden in the game>all for something that was doomed to never work
>>12066595You're really stupid.
If BK had controller pak support then they could've put it in Tooie as well to accomplish the Stop n Swap. You still stop playing your current game and swap to the other but your data is in the controller pak.
>>12066598Who is this semen demon
Didn't this eventually get implemented in the 360 port? Though from what I recall it was a shell of it's former plans.
>>12066607
>>12066605Do you really think they didnt consider that and you're some sort of hindsight genius like the others saying the same thing? It wasn't a "mistake", the whole point was that you had to have both carts on you at once, so you couldn't rent one game one week then rent another. The most likely scenario is the user would have to own at least one of the games to unlock the rewards.
>>12066598>America's Best Selling Playstation Magazine>issue no, month, and pricing for Japan in the left cornerMake it make sense.>>12066610It did, but you had to wait for the XBLA release of Tooie.
>>12066595Oooh, banana!
>>12066617They were just being weebs. This was the late 90s, when the "Cool Japan" phase really took off in a more mainstream way
>>12066610they unlocked profile pictures and dashboard backgrounds and an achievementi think the original plan was to unlock cheat items or other super secret items/areas, but they simply never made them when Nintendo informed them that hardware revisions would make it not work for many N64 owners.
>>12066616>the whole point was that you had to have both carts on you at once, so you couldn't rent one game one week then rent anotherFirst of all, you realize people could rent more than one game at a time, right?Second, if that was the case, they would have required the Transfer Pak to unlock some of the content.I think they were just trying to do something crazy/unique but then the system specs changed which made it no longer viable.
>>12066617>>12066610Some guy made a homebrew rom that interacts with vanilla Banjo carts.https://github.com/AdamRVierra/stop-n-swop-toolkit/They still don't do anything but its open source, only need to wait on the homebrew devs to use it for their games.
>>12066616You can't pull out the "Rare thought of that!" card when they unironically implemented a tease of a system as the reward for 100% that never worked due to a simple oversight on their part.
>>12066627>i think the original plan was to unlock cheat items or other super secret items/areas, but they simply never made them when Nintendo informed them that hardware revisions would make it not work for many N64 owners.IIRC there is some unused cutscene data on the cart of Kazooie where it seems to zoom in on seemingly nothing, but it's placement makes it very likely that it was to zoom on in where the Ice Key likely would have been stored. It feels likely it would have been for something bigger on the N64 if they could have done it, likely a special area or some kind of "complete" story like you could in the Oracle games.
>>12066628That was their reasoning. Most 90s kids only rented one game from Blockbuster at a time. There's nothing stopping them from renting 2, but it was rare.
>>12066616Technically all you would've needed was a single BK 100% cart passed around in order to unlock the content IF Banjo Tooie saved you unlocking all of that and didn't make you Stop n Swap every single time.
Childhood is liking Banjo. Adulthood is preferring Conker, because it actually has challenging gameplay.
>>12066635But the system did work. Nintendo caught on and told them to stop because they were paranoid stupid kids would do it with the power on and screw up their carts.
>>12066646escaping the Tediz fortress is insanely hard on original hardware, fuck it. the bazooka tediz 1shotting you and spawning infinitely suck.
>>12066602Codes exist in the game to unlock everything. You're just never told that.
>>12066662They also delete your save if you use more than 2
>Adulthood is preferring Conker, lol, no>because it actually has challenging gameplay.lol, no
>>12066615man you know what? she really do be a semen demon...whatever happened to wipeout anyways? last one i remember was the vita one
>>12066646N64 Banjo is pretty hard as you have to get all notes in one go as they are lost upon death/exit
>>12066595bk sucks but dkc2 mogged nintendos games
>>12066723>He doesn't knowngmi
https://tcrf.net/Banjo-Kazooie/Stop_N_Swopreminder stop n swop was cracked for bk1also rare's patent for stop n swop completely explains the ice key in dk64. not really sure how no one saw this years ago....https://patents.google.com/patent/US6820265B1/en
>>12066610from what I recall it unlocked some exclusive vehicle parts in Nuts & Bolts
>>12066595>Bongoloids never made a good game
>>12066607She's not in the game.
Anti-British psyop posting.
>>12069920Yup. We finally got people to stop making teeth jokes but we still gotta put up with this shit.
>>12066759Funnily enough conker is worse the older you get. While I appreciate dkc the older I got.
>>12066595FPBP
>>12066627I think the idea was going to be that it would work across several future rareware games, which is why only a few of them are relevant to tooie and implementing them all is just full of filler
>>12072002>I think the idea was going to be that it would work across several future rareware games,You were supposed to bring the Ice Key into DK64, and they desired to connect more games like Perfect Dark, Conker and Jet Force Gemini. Probably each other game was supposed to get one Egg, with Tooie just getting the Ice Key and Blue/Pink eggs you saw at the end.
Nintendo was right to shut this down, I can't imagine how much this would have fucked with the N64 hardware dong this shit all the time. That said I still give Rare credit for trying to think outside of the box.
>>12072661i still don't understand why they didn't use just 1 small as fuck controller pak save
>>12072831im sure they would have in hindsight but you cant recall all the BK carts now.
