How's N64, PS1 and Saturn emulation on this thing?
Also, can I use a knock-off classic controller for Gamecube stuff using Nintendont?
>>
>emulating Saturn on Wii
lmao
>>
>N64
viable
>PS1
It's fine.
>Saturn
heavy caveats

Ok seriously why? You can get a working PS1 with faulty laser from Japan for $10-20 and put an X station ode in it for $50. Then get a Saturn and N64 for $40 and clash cart for $50. Please stop being poor and invest $200 in your hobby instead of being a pathetic cheapskate.

>Ps1
Mostly Fine but still in Progress

>N64
Dont Bother

>Saturn
Barely started so dont bother either.

Whatever's available on the Wii VC is pretty good. I wouldn't bother with homebrew emulators.
>PS1
Surprisingly good but not perfect. I never thought it would get to this point.
>Saturn
lol

>Also, can I use a knock-off classic controller for Gamecube stuff using Nintendont?
Yeah, probably.

Alright thanks, what emulator is recommended for PS1?
Also, I tried to play Melee but it doesn't recognize my classic controller, its a cheap one and i read that Nintendont doesn't like them.

Wiistation its the only viable option that works, get the latest version, just be ready for some occassional quirks, OpenGX is in the works that cuts off RAM usage and improves performance and speed but its locked at 480i and 2D games are broken with blurry and glitchy graphics.

If you play regular version in Lightrec use Old GFX because New GFX always stutters at games with 60fps framerate.

Thanks, one more thing, does it recognize usb hid controllers?
I found out Nintendont actually works with my usb PAD so I was wondering if i can use one for Wiistation (I could use the classic controller i have but it lacks L3/R3 buttons and I'd like to play Ape Escape).

On Wiistation I've played FF7-9, FFT and tactics ogre, Castlevania SOTN, doom, xcom, megaman legends and x4, koudelka, parasite eve, kings field, diablo, exhumed

FF7 had slowdowns that is fixed by pausing and unpausing. FF8 battle transitions were green colored instead of white. With kings field 2 I had to use different setting to run it. For doom I had to use PAL version.

Those were the issues I had, which weren't enough to bother me.

>N64
Middling: constant graphical and sound glitches, and the virtual console emulator can't do 240p.
>PS1
99% of games run full speed without issues!
>Saturn
Give it another year. Full speed SH-2 emulation is possible on the Wii as proven by Picodrive's 32x emulation, but seta-gx (the up and coming Saturn emulator) is based on a 2008 port of Yabause and is using indeed using an SH-2 compiler from 2008. The focus with seta-gx has been GPU-accelerated graphics emulation, which has remarkable performance gains over Yabause Wii's software rendering, but performance is still bottlenecked by that old SH-2 compiler. The developer's said once work is finished on the GPU code, he'll study Picodrive's source code to improve the CPU side of things.

Also the knock-off controllers are TERRIBLE. The sticks are extremely difficult to move and extremely imprecise. And let's not even talk about those d-pads...

For the games that with, I've found N64 to be the best by far. It's also the most convenient way to play N64 games on a CRT short of having an actual N64 and a flash cart

Switch between them on a per-game basis. NewGFX is generally faster but has issues with some games; but even OldGFX has some issues of its own.

In regards to Nintendont, does anyone know how the controller cfg files work?
I heard you could actually make the cheap controllers work by editing those files.
>>12068219
That's neat in regards to Saturn emulation, as for N64, guess I'm better off with something else.
>>12068226
I haven't used mine much (only did some testing with a Wii game to see if it works), I also got it because it was super cheap (cost me 5 bucks).

Those only work for USB controllers. The Nintendont devs are cunts who either ask "Use case?" on merge requests or close them immediately by saying "Use case unclear". Nintendont is never going to get remappable controls for non-USB controllers.
