Why did 95% of the greatest games of all time release on these four systems? If you had to pick a 5th to stand with them what would it be?
dos
>>12066679>If you had to pick a 5th to stand with them what would it be?PS2 of course
>>12066679replace playstation and windows with nes and gamecube
>>12066687>only has 3 good games all by Konami>snes versions of 2/3 of the games are superior anyways
>>12066679close, replace n64 with pc-98 and snes with the wii (since you could play all the worthwhile snes and n64 games on wii anyways) and you'd be closer to being right. also if your 5th isnt ps2 then you're insane
>>12066679I’m a 64 fag and even I know the ps2 has the greatest console gaming library, even without BC, but especially the greatest if you do include bc
replace N64 with PS2 and throw the original DS in there.
>"Why did 95% of the greatest games of all time release on these four systems?">SNES>N64You only have a couple games you'd consider the "greatest of all time"? Those two have terrible libraries. Replace them with PS2 and Mega Drive and you might actually have a decent enough selection for saying that. The tendie fatigue is real.
>>12066790N64 has two entries in the top 10 whereas the best Mega Drive wouldn't break top 100. Cope.
>>12066679Ps2 deserves to be on there>>12066687No
>>12066707>only knows three gamesbad taste self report
>>12066790>snes>terrible libraryN64 I'll give you but this is a shitpost tier take
>>12066687Yeah, the console trinity is still NES, Genesis, and PSX.
>>12066687I wonder why the console says 32-Bit.
>>12066824It's just the anti-snes spammer, he's still at it.
>>12066837Auster?
>>12066845Probably
>>12066767>>12066770>>12066790Retards that can't distinguish the difference between having the best quality games and having a large quantity of decent games.
>>12066679>Windows 98What does that even mean? Games released between 1998 and 2000?
>>12066887How can they be the best if they aren't even good?
>>12066916Trust me, no one including OP knows true range of 98 games but don't be a contrarian faggot. You know exactly what era he is talking about, peak Quake, Unreal Tournament etc.If you don't, now you do.
>>12066932Could probably be solved in a single thread, would be fun to go over various magazines like egm and game pro, sega saturn magazine to suss out every good release from January 98 to December.
>>12066932Age of Empires II, Half Life, Counter-Strike, Starcraft, Deus Ex, Thief also
>>12066887OkWhat are 3 N64 games that are such perfect masterpieces that literally, LITERALLY not a SINGLE PS2 game is nearly as good as any of these 3 games?
remove snes and 64, add ps2 and mega drive and we're talking.
>>12067010Straw man argument
>>12067010i don't even consider myself an N64 warrior, but it's pretty easy:>Super Mario 64>Zelda Ocarina of Time>Zelda Majora's Maskand my personal 10/10s:>Paper Mario>Super Smash Bros>Bomberman 64i wouldn't say it had an amazing library, but it had a really small handful of amazing games
>>12067085So you're saying that literally not a single PS2 game is as good as any of these games?
>>12066679>Why did 95% of the greatest games of all time release on these four systems? That's just an artifact of game journalists and their particular interests and focus.
>>12067093Not better than SM64 or OoT, no
>>12066679There's so much missing here, DOS, NES, Genesis, Game Boy, etc.>>12066790People will NEVER stop liking Nintendo games.>>12066826If you were to try to cover as much variety as possible of strictly good console games, and only three, then that'd be a VERY good slice. However, the NES and Genesis has a pretty strong overlap in styles of games, if you replaced NES with SNES you'd have a trinity which covers more ground (the SNES would have some overlap with PSX, but only some, due to technological limitations).
NES, GBA, Saturn, & MSX
>>12067085There's Mario and Ocarina and that's it, the rest of picks are fanboy stuff
>>12066679PS2 for sure. You have FFX, MGS2, MGS3, God of War, DMC, SH2, SH3, SH4, The Thing, GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Shadow of the Colossus, SOCOM, and many other. Just an insane library and original IP’s.
>does copycat count?maybe... SEGA?
>>12066679It truly was the golden age of gaming. New ideas were everywhere, and since it didn't cost a quarter-billion annd didn't take up to a decade to produce a game, it was simply possible for studios to try out any new idea. >If you had to pick a 5th to stand with them what would it be?PS2. Nothing comes close in that gen of systems.
>>12067483How is Sega a copycat? Sony literally took what what Sega was doing with the Saturn, and got better deals with game publishers.
>>12066679ps2 mogs all of them combined and siphons the shitstation1's library through BC it truly is the pinnacle of human achievement
>>12067271>>12066682Windows 98 is still DOS under the hood. All the DOS games run natively.
>>12066679you can remove 3 from the image and it's still true
>>12066679Replace the N64 with the PS2
>>12066834So it's not exactly a Megadrive to avoid copyright infringement . Kinda like the TV's brand is Zany.
>>12066679Neo Geo of course.
>>12068252Based fellow Dion fan
>>12066679Replace N64 with Ps2
>>12066679I can't think of any great N64 games, even the ones I'd want to play are just alright. Probably why I never use my 64.
OoT and SM64 are literally the only games worth playing on the N64. Everything else on the system is overhyped first-party shovelware but in terms of greatest games of all time, probably yes. It deserves to be in this image.
Cute how nintentroons act like their few good games are generational masterpieces. They wouldn't even be in the top 10 in the PS1 library
>>12068413Is Banjo Kazzooie shovelware to you?Are Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing shovelware to you?Are the Mario Party games shovelware? The Pokemon Stadium games? Super Smash Bros?Waverace 64?>>12066683>>12066770>>12066819>>12067016What are you even doing here? Most of the popular PS2 games are the same kind of games you still have on the PS3,4,5.GTA games, generic racing games, generic shooters.
>>12068425That's the funniest thing about it. Same with SNES, the "best games" would be average on Mega Drive at best.
>>12066679>If you had to pick a 5th to stand with them what would it be?gba is pretty underrated, there's so many good games on there.
