Previous thread: >>12058517Rules of the thread are simple:>You can only talk about games and systems made before the US release of the NES (1985). Everything before it from the CRT Amusement Device to stuff like Marble Madness and Kung Fu Master is cool here. Later and homebrew ports for Pre-NES games on Pre-NES systems are allowed (e.g. Jr. Pac-Man was released in arcades in 1983 but the 2600 port came out in 1986)>That's it.What music do you listen to when playing Atari, if any? I occasionally enjoy some prog rock and early 80s pop when playing Atari. It makes me feel like I'm a dude in the late 70s-early 80s playing the new hit arcade conversions.
>>12066848>last 2 threads died with less than 10 repliesHonestly I feel the rules are too convoluted and specific which limits a lot of discussionI'd change the rules to simply allow any game running on hardware released in 1982 and earlier
>>12067362The thread's always been a slower one and the spam bombardment lately hasn't helped much either. The reason it's called Pre-NES is simply to show that this is for games made before 1985 (Famicom games made before 1985 are allowed here too). I make these threads because that era of gaming is rarely looked at now and making one thread for one related topic is almost guaranteed to die immediately. Anyways, I think I'll decompress with some Atari tomorrow. I've been playing a lot of newer stuff so it'll be nice to decompress.
>>12066848I enjoy playing atari without music, adds to the charm for me. Plus I like hearing the jingles and explosions.
>>12067362To be honest there aren't that many good Pre-NES games.
Wait a minute so Super Mario Bros (September 1985) is in since it's before the release of NES (October 1985)
>>12067883If you wanna be cute, I guess. Not like anybody can stop you
>>12067920I would rather just exclude the Famicom, I don't see the point of making a distinction between it and NES
>>12067931That would be sensible, yes.
>>12067931It's one of those things where this thread is obviously not meant for Famicom or NES games (nobody is going take you seriously if you talk about Super Mario itt) but those really early games get a pseudo pass because the majority of them are just arcade ports. A good rule of thumb though is that if it's Gen 3+ then it's not allowed in the thread.
