What was the reaction to RE2 in 1998?
It received a very negative reaction from fans and critica alike for being, as GamePro columnist Mike Hunt said: "A game that insists upon itself."
>>12067601only critic I listen to is Anthony Fantano that gave Resident evil 2 5 out of 5 popcorn buckets
>>12067595Are you writing a video essay or something? Stop making stupid threads.
>>12067595>resident evil
>>12067625Me when I play resident evil 3
>>12067595I literally stood up, raised my hands and shouted "KINO!!!"
>>12067595IDK I was 7 when it came out, my father downloaded the rom from internet (we were the firsts in the city to get a modem for 1mbs so bye bye 56k) we burned the CDs and played (we didn't know at first the difference between first and second CD we tought it was like MGS)The game for me was both scary and amazing like a forbidden game to play, because it gave me nightmares about zombies for 2 weeks and my mother even forbidden me to play or even watch my father or brother play, at school I remember other kids who had it were scared shitless, but when RE3 the meme and the real scary monster came for me and friends "NEMESIS".Anyway IDK how was the media but a lot of kids loved the game because it wasn't for our age and plaing it was like a courage challenge.
>>12067595I remember reviewers not liking Leon calling him weak compared to Chris due to the exaggerated recoil animations he has for his magnum and shotgun.
>>12067595Bought it on release and still have my copy. I only bought games mags for pictures, reviewers were always shit (apart from GamesTM mags reviews of terrible games in it's first year run before morphing into and Edge wannabe)
>>12067595It made me spit out my Dunkaroos and have to start doing the macarena

I didn't get to play Resident Evil 2 until at least 2000 when I managed to get a copy of the N64 game. I loved the N64 port.
>>12068525This post made me put my hand on my heart and fondly remember the times gone by.
>>12068865Same, I only played the N64 port of the game. I remember spending a weekend unlocking everything in the game.
>>12067625high quality post as expected of 2025 4chanhere's to 22 more years
>>12067625>>12067595>reactionnothingthe youtube "people react to...blah blah blah" is such a fucking zoomer\gen alpha thing millennials are pre-internet & not susceptible to fucking brainrot we borrowed\rented\traded\bought games information spread via word of mouth, tv ads, or print magazines (all borrowed\traded also)we rented\played games that were interesting to us it was not that big of a dealit was not a "holy shit a cultural hivemind phenomena!" making much ado about fucking nothing simply is not the pre-internet way...>re:2i do remember thinking "neat its on n64 somehow"other than that i wasn't really balls-deep emotionally invested until RE:0 on gc
>>12068952we played the faggy game then went outside to live our lives instead of fawning about videogames on youtube comment sections\twitter\tiktok\swipeapps\etc
>>12067625i look exactly like that and make that exact face when i play resident evil
>>12068952first videogames I remember becoming a mania was Pokemon and tamagotchi. Tons of other dumb shit that millenials went gogo gaga over was stuff like yoyo's, pogs, troll dolls
>>12067595All the mixed kids in my class loved it and one even got busted trying to steal it from the rental store. It was the Call of Duty Marvel Rivals Madden of its day.
what the fuck is this thread
>>12069080A job interview.
>>12067595positive. everyone was pumped for the movie which didnt come for like several years and was nothing like what people imagined/hoped it would be
>>12069217I remember the reaction to the first movie, it was amusing. I used to post on a RE online community and the website owner reviewed the movie and how much he enjoyed it and then his buddy convinced him otherwise so then he rewrote his review following the hivemind that the movie isn't good after all.

>>12069027I still have my yoyo, it's really fun
>>12069514contrary to what it says in vid desc, masami didn't compose Mad Experiment afaikthe 4th composer who did just this track & left RE2 for Parasite Eve 2.also read that they hired him after listening to this song alonedoesn't RE2 ambience sound like John Carpenter music?
There wasn't a huge following until after the movies came out. You only heard school normies talk about fucking Goldeneye and Turok.
>>12067595>What was the reaction to RE2 in 1998?Everybody hated it, complete audience rejection like Joker Folie a Deux.
>>12067595Everyone was really really mad because we wanted Elza then we bought the game and she's nowhere in sight and this Claire chick took her place.
>>12070602She was cut so long before.
>>12069530this toy got my mum mad at me (witchcraft in the instructions)
Literally everyone thought it was a clunky game with obtuse controls and artificially difficult gameplay.
