Both this and the powerglove used boxing games for advertising. "Punch the air!"

someone should grill microsoft for the schematics for they can make an opensauce driver for this, to work with any game/platform.

All things considered the uforce worked better but was stupid expensive due to the IR LED emitters and recievers.

I think it's still a cool idea, would like to see some kind of modern mouse/keyboard alternative like this

I remember when I was a kid there was some kind of game/video thing where you had a toy spaceship lightgun thing and you played a VHS tape where you had to shoot red spots on enemies. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

The local shop has this CIB (actual CIB not that fake ass "oh it has the box" type shit from ebay) and includes the second game for $450. Should I go for it?

At a Gattitown I went as a kid it had a Tekken game that could be played with a similar control style. It was a 2 dollars to play and fucking hard.

I think it was Tekken 3.

It's kinda like a Sega Activator, there's LEDs on the four corners of both panels that emit invisible infrared light which reflects off your hands back into the infrared receivers which are directly next to each IR LED. Gameplay modes vary depending on the switch configuration, some had analog control as IR can detect distance as well by determining the intensity of the reflected light (which is why calibrating the IR recievers is so important) but most games were played with the virtual gamepad configuration. The hinges were also quite fragile...

they had this thing on a shelf behind the counter at kaybee toys. i remember drooling over it but im sure it was just another lame piece of shit. plus anymore i always turn vibration off on my controllers anyway
>>
>>12071429
They're pretty cheap on ebay. Cool idea for the time though, a lot of people use similar devices for flightsim/racing sim (buttkicker).

I wasn't allowed to have a game system as a kid except a Vectrex we had at our lake house. I had a home computer. So anyway I saw the ads for this when it came out and I was astounded. One of my buddies got one not long after it came out and I went to his house and was like "Oh can we play with the robot?" And he rolled his eyes and was like "fine." It sucked so hard that I kind of hated all robots ever since. What a fucking letdown.
>>
>>12071429
How did this work, just a speaker inside the thing with a low pass filter?

I remember always seeing an option for VFX support in Flight Unlimited and MW2 but never got to see it in action IRL. I'm kinda surprised nobody ever implemented support for it in DOSBox for those with modern VR setups.

Looks like a wheelchair control for someone who can't even sit upright.
>>
>>12071429
I had one of these and yes it was essentially >>12071673 a fucking speaker in a hard plastic backpack.
After a few weeks I tried to take it back but they knew it was a piece of shit and wouldn't refund me so I pawned it for half of what my mother paid for it.

That's a cute number of buttons compared to some of today's games that use the whole keyboard and then some, with modifiers and chording/layers

I would probably buy it for that much, but its also like the last game im looking for on the original Xbox. Pretty sure the 2nd game is online only though.

I used one of these back in the day to blast my body with the boss music from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and it gave me a headache. Good times. I have two now, so I should try hooking it up so im wearing one on my back and one on my chest.

Fucking bad ass.
>>
>>12072028
I always wondered if this controller had one game on the NES that actually kinda made decent use of it, like Marble Madness. Even if you just set it down and used your hands like it was a giant track ball or something.
>>
>>12072943
No NES game supports any kind of analog input. The jp genesis version lets you use an upside down ball mouse to play though.
>>
>>12072961
im guessing its not whats typically considered traditional analog, but what about the NES Max controller? I know most people prefer that for games like Ice Hockey.

Its just 4 direction buttons, same as everything else. A lot of people abandoned the fake analog and just pressed the black ring around it for more accurate direction control.

That's it.
I've been blanking on that for so many years. Cheers!
