The Virtual Boy was released as a bog standard black and white handheld running at 60Hz instead of the black and red VR goggles that give people migraines running at 50Hz.What changes?>Also, no dual D-Pads, SNES controller layout (D-Pad, Select, Start, A, B, X, Y, L and R).>Game Boy adaptor to play Game Boy games on the device.>Releases in 1994, Donkey Kong 94 is the launch title.>Color model in 1998, with upgraded hardware but is 100% backwards compatible with the original (with adaptor due to the carts having more address and data space), front lit screen by 2001, back lit screen by 2005, replaced with the DS by 2004 meaning there is over lap between the 2 systems.
you need to go back to the /y/outube comments section
You made a bunch of pointless changes and didn't fix the main issue
>>12071591The main issue was it was giving people migraines, making it a 2D black and white handheld would've fixed it's biggest issue, no migraines.
>>12071594Holy midwit
OP decides not to make this threadWhat changes?
>>12071609His parents feel slightly less disappointed for him
I paid big bucks to start the process of repairing my Virtual Boy and equipping it.Thanks, Nintendo.
>>12071631To be honest, even before they announced the release of vb games on switch online you could have emulated it in 3d on the 3ds
>>12071649I had been (I also emulated it using the HTC Vive) but I also have a real Virtual Boy and when Nintendo announced that stupid VB attachment I made up my mind now was the time to get it back up to par. So when the MrCART came back in stock I bought one of those and then also requested the install service for the Virtual Ribbon.Costs way more than Nintendo's solution but it's also much more satisfying.
>>12070726So basically use the hardware to make a new GB successor instead of a VR headset? It would probably be extremely successful.
>>12071931Yes.
>>12070726>>12071594You are really just saying they should have released a monochrome GBA instead of the Virtual Boy.
>>12073482Yes, but with the Virtual Boy's hardware running at 60Hz on a 2d screen.
>>12070726The name for starters. Probably something like Game Boy 2. Essentially you're just jumping into the Handheld section with a 'missing link' between the GB and the GBA, which... honestly would rack up more dollars overall though in retrospect it would just seem dull.
>>12073542Pretty much.
Does the VB have any cool homebrew worth grabbing once I pick up a flash cart for it? I was going to throw the whole library on it but it's such a small list of games (just shy of two dozen) that I'd be up for checking out some hobbyist programs on it too. >>12070726Literally never gotten a headache of any kind playing my virtual boy. The most I've ever had to do is let my eyes adjust after coming out of the mini man cave for like two seconds.
>>12075560When it comes to actual good and meaty homebrew games, it looks like there's Fishbone, Hyper Fighting, and Virtual Warzone. Formula V looks decent but is not out yet. There might be a couple more quality games out there. You'd probably find them on planet virtual boy. Virtual league baseball 2 just leaked which is apparently a really well made baseball game for anyone who cares. A couple more games could leak later this year too but could also be bs.
>>12073485I'm not sure the second screen would be practical just yet
>>12075583Sounds cool, I'll check that out. Is Hyper Fighting a port of SF2? That's what I'd assume based on the name. I always thought it'd be cool to just straight up port a Wizardry game to Virtual Boy, albeit with automap in place because fucking constantly looking in and out of the system to map by hand. I'll keep my eyes out for what you mentioned though, thank you!
Alright here's an idea: The Virtual Boy is released a bit later, as a normal TV-based game console, with all the same specs and features as the N64. And the N64 is released a little earlier, but it isn't a TV-based console - instead it's a self-contained, somewhat portable virtual reality platform with a red and black display. And also, the two of them switch names... and here's the kicker. Instead of being released in North America on March 30, 1996, Resident Evil comes out for the PSX on March 31, 1996. Oh and Reggie Fils-Aimé's facial hair grows 4% faster. What changes?
>>12075882Ppl colabse on the other console with them pokemans in full 3d
hot take: the VB would have been saved if it had 3D porn
>>12078549It had a tranny game with jiggly tits
>>12078549That would have taken some proper Japanese artistry to pull off. Even so, it's hard to imagine how it would really work.
