Crazy to think that this console is gonna be 30 years old next year, I still remember renting games from blockbuster with my lunch money or reading magazines and finding cool games I wanted to try out.I think I'll play some of the horror-themed games it has for October (RE2, Nightmare Creatures, Doom 64, etc..)
>>12071373It's the only console I have a hard time playing these days.
>>12071374Really? I played some Jet Force Gemini and Ocarina of Time recently on mine and was having a blast, was impressed with them by comparison of today's games. Made it further in both games than I did as a kid, plan to beat them both.
>>12071373Us euros had to wait until March 97 to get ours
>>12071374sucks to be you
>>12071373Don't tell anyone else, but I actually prefer RE2 on N64 to PS1 because it gives you the option of direct analog control and higher resolutions with the expansion pak. It's also got a pretty cute little randomizer mode.Still have fond memories of laying on my stomach on a carpeted floor in front of a 13" little Emerson CRT, playing my N64 as a kid. My first console, so I'll always have a soft spot for it despite all its drawbacks.
>>12071590comfy, I've been playing through the RE games lately and want to play RE2 N64, but feel like I should do it on real hardware.
>>12071373will we ever get a mini?
Home of the best video game ever made, so respect.
I'm getting filtered, dudes...
>>12071373Does anyone else get thrown off by the frame rate? I tried playing Banjo-Tooie, and it would be running at twenty something fps. Felt terrible. Was this common, and I just didn't notice as a child?
>>12071590RE2 on N64 isn't a bad port and those who insist that it is are probably butthurt that Angel Studios was able to cram both discs into a single 64MB cartridge against all odds, with the only things missing being one of the FMVs (which is practically identical to another one anyway) and the Extreme Battle mode.
>>12072290https://youtu.be/PbQPFpl7Pdg?si=Tsgb5LnzLyGN7iBl and the best track of the game
>>12072497I actually forgot about that, a shame but not too horrible of a compromise all things considered. They had to ship the game somehow and they most definitely delivered.
>>12071373You couldn't rent games from blockbuster as a kid
>>12071374Why
>>12071373i spent hundreds of hours fucking around in mario64, doing 99 stock matches in smash bros, and killing all of my allies in star wars before proceeding with the mission. good times. its crazy to me how some people never grew up and kept on gaming, and instead hold the n64 on some unassailable pedestal of "masterpiece" despite all of the advancements in gaming made since then.
>>12071567>trying to brag>posts one of the worst games on the system
>>12072923>all of the advancements in gaming made since thenWhat are those? Injecting feminism, homosexuality and trannyism into everything? Or perhaps pay to win pay pig shit? Or is casino psychology more impressive to you? Don't tell me it's achievements.
>>12072932i didn't post carmageddon 64
>>12072962that's why i said "one of the worst" and not "the absolute worst"
>>12072967i didnt post monster truck madness 64
>>12072974which is still better than any rareware on the 64
>>12072941>i have /pol/ brainrot from being terminally online, so my critical thinking and observational skills have vanished.you pathetic, jaded opinion is worthless and has been discarded.
>>12072978that's a pretty cool opinion, dudette.
>>12073194Great argument. Not.
>>12072272Framerate in Rare games is all over the place. 3D N64 games in general can be slow because of the slow RAM. You probably didn’t notice as a kid. Diddy Kong Racing has a performance patch which is stable at 30fps. Hopefully more games will get that.
>>12072923N64 and Game Boy are the only systems I have any real interest in.
I got an N64 with the Borti Advanced RGB mod and it looks noice. Then immediately after I found an UltraHDMI N64 for a decent price and it looks even more noice.
>>12073345What a weird assortment? Why? The Gameboy doesn't even have that many good games. Surely if you accept Gameboy-style games, you'd enjoy NES and SNES and Genesis games as well.
>>12073363clearly just an autistic fixation due to familiarity of what he grew up with. broader horizons dont exist to those sorts.
>>12073363I like the simple graphics of Game Boy and that it's easy to pick up and play anywhere any time. It has plenty of good games. N64 I like because it was innovative and stuff like Mario Party and Smash Bros. is just fun.
this board is full of 12 year olds from reddit
>>12072272Im only brothered by framerate if it fluctuate heavily. Emulators let you overclock the CPU so you can try that
>>12072923On December 31st, 1999, my Dad’s company had a party at one of their offices. My brother and I packed our n64 and found a conference room with a TV. We played 99 stock smash (thought we’d unlock Mewtwo) and unlimited fountain drinks. It was a blast. I later found out my parent’s were scared shitless of Y2K and wanted to be around a bunch of people in case things went south, kek.
HEROES of Nintendo
>>12074564I love time capsule moments like 1996.Just couldn't be replicated today. Culture changed so much. Star Wars as a whole mutated indescribably.
