Why is there such a big rivalty between fans of those two games?
>>
There wasnt. Early 2000s fans of ww2 games played all of them. MoH, CoD, BF 1942, and even wolfenstein. We took what we could get.

Other than genuine consolewars I dont recall any form of rivalry from game to game back then. Games simply didnt have a large enough fanbase and not enough gamers were online yet to bicker about them. Maybe a bit of sf2 vs mk banter at the arcade, but most guys played both.

Back then people were rivals about consoles, but by the time of the ps1 that had died down a bit, and when it came to console FPS everyone just wanted more good games.

We didnt have social media and YouTube manufacturering drama, people just wanted fun games

There was no rivalry, Wolf isn't even a ww2 game

>Wolf isn't even a ww2 game
Wut?
>1943
>british military sends a team to monitort nazi paranormal investigation
>battling nazi SS with MG42 and other german weapons
>zombies animate the dead and load the biological weapon in a V2 rocket aimed at london
Its supernatural WW2 but still WW2
>>
>>12072426
For 2001 it had an amazing assortmen of weapons, both real and steampunk/nazi superscience
>>
>>12072252
there is?
>>
>>12072252
There was none of that
And Enemy Territory came in 2003 inspired by CoD and MoHAA
>>
Maybe a palestinian vs israeli rivaly as in one wrecks the other completely. MohAA is an absolute legendary game that doesn't get enough respect

shit /vr/ makes up
>>
>>12072552
enemy territory was just standalone rtcwmp+
>>
Between CoD and MoHAA
perhaps, not RTCW.
>>
>>12073447
CoD was mostly made by the same people as MoHAA and came out 21 months later.

>Between CoD and MoHAA
Not really, Anon. There was more than a year between them (not counting the expansions which have mostly added single player content in MoH). I've been there, we first played MoH and then switched to CoD without much drama. By the time UO came out, there was just a small community of MoH multiplayer people that stuck to it, but likely played both.

Added to that, CoD was done primarily by the people who previously worked on MoHAA, so it was viewed more as an evolution than competition.

And UO was made by guys who previously made RTCW.

RTCW, no contest.
