Someone is porting Tomb Raider II to the Saturn:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_6QNwWEfSc
This is super cool. I wish developers gave parallel processing a chance in the 90's before it became standard a decade later.
>>12073376Looks a lot nicer than I imagined given that original TR looks fuck awful on Saturn, but the frame rate is about as bad as I expected.
>>12073416>but the frame rate is about as bad as I expectedPar for the course on 5th gen consoles
>>12073423Tomb raider is constant 30 FPS on PS1
>>12073376Based
>>12073376If the video ended on Lara closing the freezer door with the butler inside it would have been perfect.
>>12073530Maybe he's saving that for the release video when the project is going to be finished
>>12073376But the original game was original developed with a saturn release date until Sony brought some suitcases full of money to core design studios in great britain.
>>12074259>our game is now a Playstation exclusive, throw the SDKs away lads!>saturn porting team::D>terminal saturnfags 25 years later::(
>>12073376Why?
>>12073423Later TRs have better framerates on the psx and their combat scenarios are designed around that little bit of added fluidity.
>>12074380to save the saturn.
>>12074380why not?
>>12074770>to save the saturn. On it's own merit the original Tomb Raider for the Saturn is still the best 3rd person 3D action adventure game on the Saturn. Core did manage to release the Saturn port at the same time as the PS1 and DOS-PC versions. Though the Saturn Tomb raider did get an early release in Europe, thanks to a limited exclusivity deal with SOE. They did release it in the same deadline as the other versions. The Saturn version really helped convince people to buy it for the Playstation instead. The PS1 version still sold like 10 to 1 to the Saturn port. The PC version was a big hit too. But probably had half of the sales of the PS1 version. Tomb Raider 2 for the Saturn being cancelled sucked. Core seemed to have abandoned Sega after the release of Tomb Raider 1 and Machine Head. Fighting Force and Ninja were cancelled for the Saturn. Pretty sure it was confirmed that Sony paid for some PS1 Tomb Raider exclusives. Tomb Raider II fan port seems like a neat 'what if'. It looks OK.

>>12073376At this point I’m curious to see what he can’t get in rather tham what he can. What won’t be in the Saturn version? Flares, maybe? The biggest levels?
>>12074259Not quite
Oh no!
