>it launches with a 7 mhz 68000 CPUWhat changes?
Auster is still thinking about it 24/7 because it's Nintendo
>>12074519It would've saved the Saturn!
>OP diesWhat changes? Nothing. Still must die.
No more slowdown during that Mode 7 SCIV stage I guess? wow massive difference
Gradius 3 runs better
I don't know man, I'm not a mathematiciologist.
Launches with a cup holder for Americans. What changes?
>>12074519Nothing, who the fuck even knows what that means you dork?
OP's dad would use a condom and we would thankfully not have this thread
>>12074627>he doesn't know that the SNES is only 1/3 the speed of all it's competitors
It's kind of funny that if you were a nerd and bought game consoles based on specs as an early adopter you would have bought the worst console every time
It needed a 32X and they could have launched N64 later with a CD to actually run Killer Instinct 2.
>>12074519Developers would find new and inventive ways to have their games run like dog shit. Same as ever.
>>12074519>What changes?Much better Arcade-likes/ports, especially beat em ups which could have 2 players and 5-6 enemies on screen instead of 3, sometimes 4 enemies. More shoot em ups get a 2 player mode, less games have black bars on the tops and bottom of the screen and of course no slowdown in the games famous for it like Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Gradius 3, Super R-Type and Magic Sword. Just all around a better arcade experience. That's not to say base SNES couldn't pull it off though. Shout out to the games that did stick the landing on the SNES despite the hardware we got like Sunset Riders, R-Type 3, Pocky and Rocky, Ninja Warriors, Wild Guns, Parodius, Higane, Contra III, Pop'n Twinbee, Puzzle Bobble and Aero Fighters comes to mind.
>>12074519ff7 would have been released on snes
>>12074519The real question is:>N64 launches with a CD drive in 1995What changes?
>>12074703shouldnt that be IV?
>>12074710would've missed the silicon graphics chip and lost to the PS anyway
>>12074680>as an early adopter you would have bought the worst console every timeit depends but yeah, it's true most of the time: >SG-1000 vs Master System>PC Engine vs Mega Drive>Gameboy vs Gamegear>3DO vs Playstation>DS vs PSP>Wii vs PS3 >Wii U vs PS4>Switch vs PS5but sometimes you get late stinkers such as the N64 and Gamecube
>>12074790????.????
>>12074763I wonder, if the price was lower than PS1 things could've gotten interesting. Most of the time it's the parents who make these decisions after all.
should have launched with SA chip as the CPU
>>12074812Sturm Abteilung?
>>12074703Final Fantasy 7 was originally going to be on SNES before SE realized they could do more with CDs and FMVs
>>12074790specs dont matter for jack shit, you can tell the pc faggot race about it because they still dont have bloodborne or vanaillaware games

>>12075006>specs dont matter for jack shitAnd yet the 2.68 mhz SNES was the only console in it's generation to constantly struggle with any sort of action games, to the extent that it has no worthwhile ones, that's so interesting...
>>12075450>And yet the 2.68 mhz SNES was the only console in it's generation to constantly struggle with any sort of action gamesThat's only a half truth. That is the clock speed of slowrom cartridges, games that use fastrom like Sunset Riders run fine despite having a lot on screen. This short video shows the difference fastrom makes on the framerate of one of the SNES's worst slowrom offenders, Super Ghouls and Ghosts.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siwZTorWw2E
>>12074815ja
Brutally kill the mhz schizo
>>12074519- less Japan-centric manufacturing- more and better 3d games- more unified source code and dev tools across the platforms which would ease porting- shorter time for programmers to get used to this system- whole bunch of companies wouldn't go out of business- CPU powerful enough to work with FMV streams, so CD unit comes out- Super Mario CD comes out and those awful Nintendo games never get released on CDi which saves the brains of whole generations of internet users from autism- We live in Type I civilization by now
>>12075639What a bunch of nonsense, like this thread. Time to die.
>>12075639Also Sharp X68000 would have gotten a popularity boost in Japan.

>>12075529>Nintendo tricked us into buying a console with bottlenecked crippled specs. How in the blue hell people put up with those shitty early SNES games with their atrocious slowdown? You know what, the genesis was better.

My blade thirst for Nintendo's blood
He wakes up every morning and the first thing to pop up in his head is the Super Nintendo.
yet, it delivers slightly more computing power at peak performance.as >>12075529 pointed out. it wasn't the cpu fault.it was nintendo for allowing slowrom to exist.
>>12078742You really think Nintendo's core audience gave a fuck? IT'S 16 BIT, MAN!
>>12075529>>12075450Asshole publishers saving a buck and lazy devs failing to optimise. The SNES had enough RAM that if you were lumbered with slorom you could simply put all your game logic into the work ram and execute at full speed from there. But typically that was far too difficult for "I modified nintendo's example code" devs so just like the GBA, very few games ran efficiently. The programmer behind another world/out of this world was rugpulled twice. First it was supposed to be a superfx game for high speed vector drawing, then he did a fully software version that worked with fastrom, then he had to make a slorom version. And he managed because he wasn't a total shitter.
Clock speed is not everything for CPU performance. Even when talking about older 80s and early 90s CPUs.For example, the C64's CPU is only 1mhz but outperforms some 2mhz / 3mhz CPUs because it's more efficient and gets more things done per clock cycle.
>>12074790>shit vs actual okay console>good console vs good console>good handheld vs shit handheld with no fucking games>pure shit vs good console>good handheld vs good handheld>good console vs no gaems>crap console vs no gaems>good console with shitloads of games vs no fucking gaems?

>>12078791>yet, it delivers slightly more computing power at peak performance.never happened. not even once. >peak performance>6502 with 16bit hacks>peak performancecringe.>>12079054it's like with fucking faggots and z80. they see:>weew! 4mhz! this chip is faster than everything around at the time!>has no idea z80 takes comical amount of clock cycles to execute similar instructions that 6502 and others do in less timeetc.
>>12079038remember they had to buy all proprietary chips from nintendo in a upfront commitment cash to publish their game. there's a few factors at once, here.>The programmer behind another world/out of this worldwhich is crazy because in game dev space, you probably had the biggest talent pool of programmers in the 68000 space by comparison.
TEST
.
>>12079038>The SNES had enough RAM that if you were lumbered with slorom you could simply put all your game logic into the work ram and execute at full speed from there.Wrong, RAM code executes at the same speed as slow ROM.>And he managed because he wasn't a total shitter. He pulled off a miracle getting that game to run on SNES. Sadly it's still the worst version by far.
