I remember seeing people online years ago hoping that enthusiasts would translate the two sequels to the PS1 Rhapsody game, making these obscure titles accessible to English speakers. Now that both have official localizations, I haven’t seen much discussion about them or whether they were worth the wait. Could it be that those who clamor for English translations of rare Japanese games rarely end up playing them?
what a dumb thread
>>12075786thanks anon, didnt know about this game actually. Ill put it on my long ass 'to play' list. Cant really say much else about it.is the translation atleast good tho?
>>12075786>I remember seeing people online years ago hoping that enthusiasts would translate the two sequels to the PS1 Rhapsody game, making these obscure titles accessible to English speakers. What?OP, you forgot your real pic, here you go>Little Princess: Marl Oukoku no Ningyou Hime 2https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/576455-little-princess-marl-oukoku-no-ningyou-hime-2/faqs/43034Entire story is translated by 2006>Tenshi no Present: Marl Oukoku Monogatarihttps://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps2/580294-tenshi-no-present-marl-oukoku-monogatari/faqs/45630Entire story is translated by 2007People who wanted to discuss Marl Kingdom series did it eons ago, it's not their fault NIS forgot about it and only cares about Disgaea these days.
They're just not very good games, that's all.2 is the best in the series, 3 is a crossover/chronicles game bringing everyone together.
These people are like 50 now
Huh, I bought the DS version of the first game recently but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Never even heard of any sequels though. I guess I'll consider looking into them if I like the first one enough. (I probably will like it, but I doubt I will like it THAT much.)
Is Rhapsody Hebe or Ephebe?
>>12077394Christmas Cake lovers only.
We played the sequels, enjoyed them and discussed them. You're simply late to the party.
>>12077219You shouldn't really compared the games to one another. 1 is the most differerent of the sort (it's an SRPG), while the other two are more akin to a normal JRPG. Still, 2 and 3 have a lot of differences, you can even say it's a proto-Disgaea in a way.1 is an SRPG2 is a JRPG. Kururu still summons puppets, but they're summons instead of party members. You can have 5 party members.3 is a weird mishmash of ideas. It uses the same system as 2's, but with an added complication: you now have 4 battle lanes. Each lane can have 4 characters in it, and the first character is the leader of that lane. So 16 characters? Isn't that kind overkill when you're fighting mushrooms and shit? Well, not really because some stronger enemies and bosses will always hit everyone, and you'll understand why it isn't overkill when bosses erase whole lanes off the screen. And of course, you can only control the leader of the lane. The other characters act randomly (or not at all).3 is also weird because it's a "chronicles" game, divided into chapters that tell stories of different characters. They all join together in the final chapter. The high point of 3 is finally playing as Marjoly and her cronies, and Cherie's huge tits. Even the title screen is an image of her thinking "Forgive me world, for having tits this huge. I'll try to contain them for the good of all."Ok, that sounded weird. But yeah, huge tits. And it's not like the series shies away from making sexual jokes. If you read Kururu's diary in 2, she makes all sorts of jokes about mermaid monsters having tits or monkeys playing with their bananas.
I couldn't be arsed to play 2. 1 was fun, but nothing I want to play again, the dungeons are garbage. Might play 2... someday.
How long are these games? They seem short for RPGs.
>>12077878Damn those are some thick legs
>>120788631 and 2 are 20 hours long.3 is a little longer (5~8 hours) if you want to go for 100%. The final chapter absolutely needs grinding, or you're not even touching the final boss.
>>12078896They have to be in order to provide lots of surface area for her lower breathing glands to use to slowly exchange gases between her body and her environment (since her stunted nose obviously isn't up to the job)
>>12078863They ARE short, but you can still do some optional stuff (like in 1 you can finish optional storylines with your dolls by grinding them to Lv.30 or something and letting them resurrect as normal people, and you can be pseudo Pokemon Master by getting all types of monsters into your party)First two games follow the pattern of "linear story > non-linear story where you need to collect MacGuffins in various new locations > final dungeon", third game is non-linear at its base (split into chapters that cover different parts of the series, like a filler story of second half of first game, an epilogue to second game or a prequel to first game) but the chapters themselves are very linear.>>12079178>The final chapter absolutely needs grindingAt least it's not so hard.Meanwhile not even OP remembered Antiphona because its gameplay's difficulty filtered so many Marl Kingdom players who can no longer bruteforce through the game.
i dont like srpgs, will I miss out on much if I just skip straight to 2? this game looks appealing to my interests
>>120800611 is the basis of the whole setting, so I wouldn't discount it. You can just get the first three puppets (Egg with axe, Teddy Bear and blonde girl) and power on through to the end. If you go straight into 2, a lot of stuff will just fly over your head. And because 3 is a chronicles game, the first scenario of it will make absolutely no sense if you've never played 1.Maybe watch the cutscenes on youtube?
>>12077878log legs
>>12077878would chomp those thighs
>>12075786>things only occur/exist if I see direct evidence of them within my personal online echochamberI want to say the internet has made people more retarded, but I think it's simply that the internet has given more people the chance to prove they're retarded on a bigger stage than ever previously possible.
>>12077878Oh, holy shit, this chick is from the Rhapsody sequel?Like 20 years ago I came across a fat fetish doujinshi that had her in it and made the rest of her body thicker to match her thighs. Back then it was literally some of the hottest and best drawn fat girl porn I'd ever fucking seen. I think she got raped by tentacles. Good fucking shit, thanks for the memory jog.
>>12075786very likely it was a very small handful of people just being very loud on the internet.
>>12077878How to draw women:>step 1: draw a woman>step 2: select everything below the waist and resize it to 200% of original size.
>>12075786No one has time anymore. This is especially true in the visual novel community. Ever since AI became a thing, there's been dozens of translation drops and people barely even acknowledge them. Because there's no fucking time to play anything anymore. I don't even have a modern graphics card and I have like 15 videogames backlogged. And I'm NEET by the way. It turns out that we all care about this shit way too much to the point where some dudes will literally reverse engineer code of games just to make PC ports. The white man that would in the 1950s be a husband, soldier, collarworker is now NEET or working from home single and making translations of anime porn games in his free time
