Remember that 'Mayor' (boss) idiotic forced meme from a few years back? I just saw this in this month's RetroGamer magazine. There was another 'mayor' reference in a previous issue not too long ago too. Has this writer just taken this term from /vr/? I've never heard it used anywhere else.

The US manual for Gradius III on the SNES referred to the bosses as "mayors". Maybe this rabbit hole goes deeper than we think.
