Does this get better as it goes on? The first Siren is one of my favorite games. I'm trying this for the first time and so far it feels like a babyfied, idiot-proof Unsharted edition of the first game without any suspense or dread. I know less people have played this compared to the first but can any fans weigh in?

This game saves your archives/secondary objectives when you get to a checkpoint but other than that it's as hard as 1. It also has tons of cool locations and the Yamibito are one of the best things about the series
>>12082912It's just weird for me going from the first game to this one's tutorial pop-ups every five seconds. I know I might have judged it too quickly and I'm willing to keep going.
>>12082920A lot of fans think that the tutorial pop ups are there to mock people who got filter'd by 1. If you think that the entire game is like that then don't worry lmao, it's just more of Siren
>>12082848nigger please you played the first Siren with a guide so don't compain about the sequel being ''babyfied''
>>12082928I doubt you've played either and are just repeating the same talking point about Siren 1. By "babyfied" I mean it reeks of all the 7th gen and beyond needless hand-holding. Literally the first four missions are all tutorials where as the first game throws you in the deep end immediately. I'm hoping the other anon is right and it gets better from there.
>>120828482 *was* made simpler, yes, both in tutorials and in hints in the stages themselves. Even so, I'd argue it's worth at least one playthrough even if it takes longer to hook you. There's a certain stage early on where you go down... somewhere in a cutscene and after that it picks up narratively
>>12082946>the first game throws you in the deep end immediatelyyeah yeah but you still played the game with a guide you poser so your retarded criticism of the far superior sequel is null and void
>>12083126What makes it superior?
>>12083142everything was improved
>>12083126>the far superior sequel
>>12083439>tranime
I tried to get into the first one, but it's way too obtuse and clunky. You have to either drop an unreasonable amount of hours into it to figure things out by trial and error, or just follow a guide - and at this point you might as well watch a walkthrough on YT like some zoomer
>>12084853>You have to either drop an unreasonable amount of hours into itI don't see the problem
>>12084853The biggest problem is that people go in expecting an 8 hour survival horror game but Siren is much longer than that even if you are following a guide and unlike many other horror games it can be brutal even on repeat playthroughs. It requires a lot of dedication to finish. There's also a bonus ending if you collect all of the archives which makes the game even more difficult.Overall even though it's a PS2 game you shouldn't feel bad about getting filter'd by it because the devs literally said themselves that it's supposed to be very challenging
>>12083142Being able to run while crouching
I'm about 15 missions in and considering dropping it. I don't know why they decided the sequel needed military shooter sections. Doesn't feel like stealth is ever required.
>>12085128I agree that would have been helpful in the first game but it almost feels like they overcorrected too much. The first game controlled very tight and precisive, but everyone had their own weight and movement to match the character (helpless little girl, grizzled old hunter, etc.). Feels like everyone controls like Solid Snake in this one.
>>12085296>Feels like everyone controls like Solid Snake in this one.Solid Snake only realised that he could run while crouching in MGS4
