You cannot get more bang for your buck than this in all of retro vidya
>>
>>12084882
Oh cool. I can download a single rom instead of six now!
>>
>>12084894
You wouldn't download a car
>>
Wasn't this created to be bundled with the model 2 genesis?
>>
>>12084882
I grew up with 6-Pak. I think I played it more than any other Genesis game I had. Beat Golden Axe, Sonic 1, Streets of Rage, and got reasonably good at Columns.
Revenge of Shinobi is the hardest game on the compilation.
Super Hang-On is the weakest game. It's not bad but it just doesn't stack up to the arcade version.
>>
>>12084882
Sega was really good about offering value. Like when they included 3 free games with the Sega Saturn.
>>
>>12084882
Super Mario All-Stars + World is an incredible deal.
>>12085047
>Virtua Fighter
>Virtua Cop
>Virtua Rac... Hey!
>>
>>12085083
Counter point:
>>
>>12084882
True. I played the fuck out of those games when I was a kid. My grandma probably clocked more time on it than me playing columns when I was at school, lol.
>>
>>12085047
The Sega CD had that two-pack. One was a Genesis games collection (Columns, Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, and Golden Axe), the other one of those Sherlock Holmes point-and-clicks.
>>
>>12085118
Oh wow so that's why my uncle had a Sherlock Holmes game. I always thought that was so weird.
>>
>>12084882
yeah i owned when i was a kid
>>
>>12085039
>Super Hang-On is the weakest game
I was thinking about that. What could they have replaced it with without increasing the ROM size?
With the exception of Columns, which is only a 128k cart, these are all 512k games.
>>
>>12085182
What's the rom size of this compilation? How much space is free?
>>
>>12085083

No.

Outrun
>>
>>12085182
Super Monaco GP would've been better but it probably would've taken more work/money because of licensing
>>
I had this. It threw me for a loop not being able to spindash on sonic 1 having played sonic 2 first.
>>
>>12085246
Your game was broken, anon
>>
>>12085246
Same. I assumed that it was always there.
>>
>>12084882
I could do without Columns and the motorcycle game
>>
>>12085713
They're not for you, N
>>
What are some other good retro compilations? I know of 6-pak and Super Mario All-Stars + World and Mario + Duck Hunt.
>>
Sierra had some neat compilations of their series that would include the entire series, even up into the late 90s
>Entire King's Quest series
>Entire Space Quest series
>Most of the Police Quest series pre SWAT
>Entire Leisure suit Larry series
>Most You Don't know Jack games
All were in big box compilations that tended to end up in bargain bins, and every Sierra fan knows that there were neat ass extras on the disc, like skits and interviews.
>>
That's a pretty good deal, how late in the genesis life did this come out?
It seems like if you had a genesis you could always get some type of bundle of a bunch of sega games in one cartridge

The Namco Museum set on PS1
Thunder Force Gold Pack for Saturn
Not Sonic Jam

ESRB started in November 1994
K-A was replaced by E in January 1998

Based pragmatist. I'm taking your post at face value because I don't want you to be a fag.
>>
>>12085776
Sierra and SSI both did that when CD-Rom made it possible to release a dozen games in on pack. It cost thwm next to nothing and offered great value for games that were just 2-4 years old at that point.

Forgot pic. The early cd era gave us a treasure trove of re-releases. Pic related was 9 games for $19.99
>>

I really wish this concept had been more of thing. They shoulda had a whole series of the late in the genesis lifespan. Nintendo shoulda got in on it too. Yes I'm aware of mario Allstars, but there shoulda been one with ALttP, Super Metroid, Yoshi Island, DKC, Starfox, and F-Zero. Woulda been tits.
>>
>>12085242
I had the Sega CD version of this and the only difference is they indeed replaced Super Hang-On with Super Monaco GP
>>
>>12085848
And of course you got Sonic CD instead of Sonic 1
>>
>>12085845
feel like i missed out a formative experience not being old enough to take this home after school one day, must have felt like being spoiled with riches
>>
>>12085846
This concept is completely dead in modern gaming, it's kind of crazy. Another form of Shrinkflation I suppose.
>>
>>12084894
Do emulator purists think they'll die if they don't constantly cut in with unwarranted advice?
>>
>>12085921
Steam still has bundles and shit, and they go on sale with deep discounts when seasonal sales happen... but then again, it's still Steam.
>>
>>12084882
I had this but Sonic 1 was the only one I put a significant amount of time into.
>>
>>12085846
Nintendo didn't need to do this because any games they would've included in such a pack actually sold copies to begin with.
>>
>>12085919
The only part that sucked was they never had jewelcases for the cheap cds. Paper sleeves or sometimes none at all. Loose cds with cardboard spacer.
>>
>>12084882
I didn't grow up with a Genesis, but when I did eventually get one as an adult and was looking for games to get, I stumbled upon this pack and bought it immediately. It felt like a good Genesis "starter pack" of sorts. Got good mileage out of Streets of Rage and Sanic at least.

You forget Golden Axe on SEGA CD doesn't support coop
>>
I miss the days that you could buy a disc of games or a bunch of shareware on a disc for a fraction.

Now everything is an upsale and chalked full of shitty modern day politics and shitty MTX/DLC
>>
>>12086236
Same but replace Sanic with Golden Axe.
>>
>>12085723
No one likes Columns, the most soulless Sega game and most soulless falling block game
>>

If you don't like Columns, I don't like you

Come on man even the music is awful eurgh
