I started playing this for October. There's a PC port of it now and I can report that it runs incredibly, you just point it to the .cue and it boots instantly, no glitches or any problems. If you're out of the loop, the PS1 version of Doom is more atmospheric, trading in its original soundtrack for more ominous sounds. If you're a huge fan of the original Doom, then I suggest you give this a spin sometime.
It's a pretty good port, they also ported Final Doom later but it only has half the levels and most of them are from Master LevelsIt also supports a mouse unlike the original port
>>12085363Play D1 on ultraviolence.
>>12085363I play this on official hardware in the dark on my CRT. Some of the dark rooms are so dark you literally cannot see anything. It gets kinda spooky.
>>12085562nightmare
>>12085580Yeah it can be 100% black in quite a number of Doom 1 maps. I like the new enemy placements including Doom 2 enemies in Doom 1 maps.
>>12085363I don't like how limited the texture set is. And original music is better.
>>12085363There is a mod that ports missing levels from the PC version to the PSX. Currently there is more than a hundred of new levels completed. When/if the work on this mod will be completed and it will be merged with the officially released levels it's going to be a pretty awesome experience.https://doomwiki.org/wiki/PlayStation_Doom:_Master_Edition
>>12085363i like Doom 64 :-)
>>12085363I really hate how ugly the PS1 port is next to the PC original
>>12086860>port"CUSTOM PLAYSTATION EDITION!" FTFY
>>12086860I don't get it
The musics are too creepy, changing the whole mood of the game. I don't recommend playing this version at 3 am using headphones.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYX-7juLBUo
>>12088703In an alternative timeline the Doom franchise would've stayed as a horror series going PSX doom -> Doom 64 -> Doom 3.
>>12087507I think it's the slightly warmer tone.Doesn't look ugly.
>>12089956holy trinity of Doom right there
