The pistol was way too overpowered. I mostly just played Halo 3 and Reach with a much smaller amount of time on Halo 2. For Halo CE I probably played under 100 matches in total across all these years even including system link multiplayer. Halo 2 had the much better mp and it only got way better in Halo 3.

But to answer your question anyways:
