It's The Operative No One Lives Forever for PlayStation 2!A perfectly competent version of the game. There's not much to say about it. It's NOLF with a Dualshock 2. I bet the sequel would have worked well on Xbox, they had the engine running there.
>PS2 port of PC gameGenuinely zero reason to play these.
>>12086539I like them. PS2 games where you can easily jump out of map boundaries are very emotional.
>>12086541I'm increasingly of the opinion that ports in general are just shit. You can count on one hand the amount of truly superior ports, the rest are just downgrades made for a quick buck.
>>12086547I'm of the opinion that it's fun to try different versions of games and see how they differ, especially if you're a fan of them. Funny enough I used to think just like you.
>>12086552>it's fun to try different versions of games and see how they differIt's kind of like the original, but worse in every conceivable way. There, I spoiled it for you.
>>12086553Having played them, unlike yourself I disagree.
>>12086556It's an objective fact. There's nothing to disagree with.
>>12086539The one in the OP has additional missions in the console port.
>>12086557Agree to disagree.
>>12086561Additional bullshit has never increased the value of an otherwise downgraded port.
>>12086563Agree to disagree.
>>12086563That's an okay opinion, but the post I replied to said there was "zero reason" to play it. There is at least one reason, to check out the exclusive missions and decide for yourself if they're any good.
>>12086567That's only a reason if you're dumb enough to think the trash added by the porting team is worth a shit. Hint: it never is.
>>12086571>it never isThe only way to have that opinion is to have tried that stuff out yourself. You don't just decide things are bad by watching youtubers... right?
>>12086573It's all an excuse to not play games. Non-players are always the worst posters.
>>12086573How naive and inexperienced do you have to be to even entertain the thought of "more nondescript content" being good? The fact nobody ever actually discusses port team slop in detail, just that it's more stuff therefore more gooder should tell you enough.
>>12086582A lot of words for a non-player.
>>12086583Playing a 10FPS console port because it has an exclusive level made by an intern is the true definition of missing the forest for the trees.
>>12086585Your fan fiction is noted, but disregarded.
>>12086573I agree with that anon. I actually had the Deus Ex and Half-Life PS2 versions because our family computer was strictly for work and not play. Now I'm an adult and can play whatever I want on my pc, so there's zero reason to go back to these watered down versions. The Half-Life one is not bad for it's time but the Deus Ex ine really sucks.
>>12086476Pros>Don't have to deal with the bullshit of installing a LithTech engine game in 2025>New levels, which are all stealth level set in the past telling more about Kate's storyCons>Some levels are cut in several parts>the PC re-release also has an exclusive level not present here, and in that one you get to actually shoot instead of being stealthy all the timeEither way the game is >Goldeneye at home, the epitome of PCwarrior bullshit>Goldeneye>>lmao FPS games should be on computer not with a controller on a kiddy console what a joke>Goldeneye but worse and with a woman... but it's on PC!>>GOTY what a masterpiece!
>>12086649a shameless goldeneye ripoff that was shamelessly ripped off by nightfire
>>12086649It's better than GoldenEye in many ways.
>>12086553uncurious faggotit's just fun to see pc games running on console hardware and the benefits and drawbacks. ghost recon ps2 has point-and-move orders that pc doesn't. age of empires on ps2 is neat and weird
>>12086539depends if they're abandonware or not
>>12086649>GoldenEyeWhat? They’re absolutely nothing alike
>>12086760>depends if they're abandonware or notLike it fucking matters lolI have to laugh at people who buy old fucking games from steam. The prices are often just ridiculous.
>>12086539It makes (You) seethe and bubble, good enough for me.
>>12086729>I won't name them tho!
>>12086768Yeah it feels more like fucking Half-Life than Goldeneye to me
>>12086869by that I mean if they're plug & play or not, I no longer want to mess with shitty patches and securom cracks
>>12086971Like a really shitty half-life or something.
>>12086539The console FPS games are frustrating to play because FPS games work way better with m+k.There are many great console FPS games too btw.
If I really like a game, usually I'll download its other versions just to check them out for a few minutes. I seldom do a full playthrough, though. Sometimes if a port has additional content, I'll download a save file and just explore what's new.
>>12086553>never played couch co-op Diablo
>>12086649the entire appeal of NOLF is that it's a 1960's spy parody. it's far more Austin Powers than James Bond
>>12087329I wish it was austin powers. The game isn't remotely funny and the 60s vibe is barely there outside of two levels and the menu. Much of the game is generic FPS settings like warehouses, desert and european village. You could copy/paste many of them into counter-strike and they wouldn't feel out of place.
>>12087381The second game is a lot more consistant in that regard
>>12086649When the finally re-release the game, will it come with the PS2 levels?
>>12087313Don't blame me, blame my desk.
>>12086957it doesn't immediately assault you with nauseating controls and graphics
