Established games that shoved vehicles in their later installments to mimic Halo. I like all these games and Halo CE, but like Halo CE I found the vehicle stuff to be the worst part of the games.

you forgot unreal 2004
>>
I loved socom one and two online. I never played 3 or 4 on ps2. I guess i was playing halo at that time and was tired of socom. My boss at work played socom 3 or 4 and i asked him. Didnt the vehicles ruin the gameplay ? And he said no
The noob tubes ruin the game
And i was suprised people were online in socom 3 and 4. Because i lost interrest after socom 2. I think i was playing halo and in highschool at the time.

The vehicle stuff in Halo is always great though
>>
>>12088138
I liked it in multi-player but not in the campaign
>>
>>12088134
The vehicle stuff in TS3 and Socom3 is very extraneous. Socom is just boats and humvees and outside of 2 missions they are essentially point to point transports

depends on the game. i loved it in halo, battlefield & UT2004 because it felt like i was playing a full scale ground war in the multiplayer.

if it's a setpiece segment in the campaign that's one and done and never again then i don't care as much and would quite frankly be better off without it.

Why not?

Inability to control the gunner on the jeeps, so I feel like I playing space crazy taxi
>>
>>12088173
you can get in the gunner seat anc let the AI marines drive though, or you can steal a phantom
>>
>>12088175
nta but you can't let the AI drive until Halo 2. CE you were stuck as the driver which is what I think anon was specifically referring to.
>>
>>12088258
Yeah I was talking about CE
>>
>>12088258
huh I actually didn't realise
>>
>>12088123
They show tanks in socom 3 but you don't get to drive them.
>>
don't care for it in any of those games
borderlands 2 had fun vehicles

You're a retard and probably slobber over the god awful vehicles in HL2 which handle like absolute shit
>>
i don't remember seeing a vehicle on l4dm2
>>
>>12088173
That's why you get your brother to drive
>>
needs m0re tribes
>>
i get irrationally mad at people who say halo ce just call it halo 1

Redneck Rampage Rides Again did the whole mount/unmount vehicle thing in an FPS before Halo

Alternatively Terminator Future Shock also had vehicle and on foot levels though you couldn't unmount, they were sperate things.

Vehicle based FPS games were an entire genre in the mid 90's.

Halo is the only shooter that got vehicles right. Every other game it feels like a lousy tacked on gimmick.

Even in UT2004 (a downgrade from UT2003) they feel so floaty and weightless.
>>
>>12088173
those segments are designed with co-op in mind
>>

Vehicles do feel tacked on in ut2k4 but they're still pretty fun. UT was always the second choice game but that meant it didn't have to be so committed to being perfectly designed and could just do things for the hell of it.

bf2 is better as an infantry game too
