I think this was a major disappointment compared to Resident Evil 2. The choice events were a decent idea, but couldn't make up for the A and B scenarios that they replaced. Randomized enemies and the paucity of ink ribbons and ammunition made for an overall poor experience.
>>
Not OP, but the PS1 was the wrong console to try and do Raccoon City on, making an American town feel like a bunch of Japanese style street corridors.

>The choice events were a decent idea, but couldn't make up for the A and B scenarios that they replaced

You got this backwards. The way 1 and 3 managed multi paths through player choices and actions is how real adventure games do things.
The A-B scenario thing in 2 was a crutch, a rip off to make the game look bigger than it was, as a result of the lack of actual adventure elements in the game.

>>12093229
But RE3 has some positives, with Jill being at her best here possibly compared to any entry in the series.
>>
>>12093240
For having 2 discs, RE2 should've felt bigger with it's A-B scenarios that hopefully a remake will one day rectify someday.
>>
>>12093229

My only complaint is that the park(the best part of the game) feels too short, like they could have added at least 2 or 3 rooms more.
>>
>>12093229
I was only disappointed because I bought the guide with it when I was 14 and beat it the same day
>>
>>12093229
the thing I've come to terms with is that it's just an inherently smaller premise, it's naturally going to feel like a bit of a stepdown from re2's more epic story. that's fine.

>I'm gay and my mom is fat and I poop my pants abloobloobloo
Whatever fag. RE3 is the best Resident Evil game because it's Terminator + Zombies starring my waifu. It also has the best zombies out of all the classic RE games, I love how varied they are
>>
>>12093574
Code Veronica is impossible to take seriously. It looks cartoony and it has a really embarassingly stupid story. It could work if it was more of an over the top action game like 4, 5 and 6 but it's still trying to be scary which just doesn't work
>>
>>12093229
This is my favorite RE after the original and Outbreak. I always thought RE2 was very overrated.
>>
>>12093229
I thought it was great, albeit a bit too difficult with some of the bosses.

I feel like they made some of the bosses way too fast for the control style, and the dodge system is just shitty feeling. Like why make it the same fucking button as shoot? It is way too punishing for failing and often times you dodge when you DONT want to, so you end up against a wall or into pack of enemies.

The boss difficulty is also just ridiculous. The final boss is too easy (I like the idea, but it's too slow for it to be difficult.)

But the nemesis fight at the clock tower? Way too fucking hard. I didn't have any healing items and it took me seriously probably around 100 tries to beat him.

It's just strange that the final boss (And the nemesis fight with the acid tanks) are so easy compared to the clock tower nemesis and the gravedigger.

Besides that, I liked how big the game felt, although I was dissapointed by the final few areas. The factory/park felt too small compared to the rest of the game.

Is a "meatier" story really a plus if all that meat is just a bunch of bullshit?
>>
>>12093787
I loved it. I'm just expressing my frustrations since I played it for the first time a week or two ago
>>
>>12093735
Both 3 and CV added troublesome mechanics that would taint the entire genre. The Nemesis system made you feel like you were getting softlocked by wasting too much ammo when you fought back, or wasting too much health items if you ran and got hit. Then Code Veronica had actual softlocks 2/3rds into the game. If Capcom was supposed to be the primere developer of survival horror games, then it was probably a rip-off to buy the AA imitators like ILLBLEED, Galarians, and Blue Sonnet.

>the paucity of ink ribbons and ammunition
Is this bait? The gun powder system is so overpowered that it basically lets you play with any weapon you want and never run out of ammo
I just did a magnum only run and look at how much magnum ammo I have right before the acid room fight

Oh and if anyone is wondering why I only mix two green herbs, it's because herbs actually count against your ranking in RE3 and three green herbs or red+green costs twice as many ranking points, and two green herbs fully heal at orange Caution anyway (and you don't wanna stay on orange Caution, especially not against Nemesis)
>>
>>12093245
Capcom's intent was to have both A and B scenarios on one disk, but there was a fuck up with the audio data that only got detected at the last possible second.
>>
>>12093743
>nah, it’s basically as cartoonish as any re game
You have brain damage. The whimsical tone alone is unlike any RE before or after it. Code Veronica was fun but objectively retarded and a blemish on the series that wasn't obvious until non-Dreamcast owners got to play it.
>>
>>12093736
RE2, RE3 and the outbreak games are ultimately what i think of when i think of classic resident evil.

none of the spooky mansions or secret laboratories. just you the player trying to survive/escape a zombie infested raccoon city before the army decides to nuke the place while nemesis/mr. X makes for a good stand-in for what would've otherwise been soldiers trying to cover up the outbreak.
>>
>>12093229
RE2 sucks, RE3 was a huge upgrade.

Did not know that. Will be useful on my dreamcast run.
>>
>>12094864
Yep
In RE2 only first aid sprays count against your rank, so in that game you can go crazy with herb usage
>>
>>12093928
that has never been properly confirmed, just like using first aid sprays supposedly harming your rank.
>>
>>12094785
autistic jannies in here will literally delete posts that make them seethe, i see it constantly in here.

My guess is it's the same poster as the master system spammer and they just deleted all of those IP's posts in one go.

Now you know why we get mentally ill REmake hate threads all the time....

Are you talking about that Caca Shitonica scat freak? Definitely the sega master system faggot
>>
>>12093825
No one actually went against Nemesis unless they knew how to fight him and if they knew how to fight him, they were well aware of how much ammo was needed, and decided the ammo use was worth the reward. At worst, you might take two rockets escaping from him if you have bad timing. Unless you are getting torn up in every encounter, you'll have plenty of health. I don't bother fighting Nemesis since the rewards aren't worth the ammo spent, and I can get some of them by making choices that insta-kill Nemmy.

Aren't the rankings in this game meaningless. You unlock everything in mercenaries mode.

Depends on which version you're playing
On PS1 you need to unlock costumes with ranks
>>
>>12093229

The only bad thing about resident evil 3 is it feels too short in comparison with resident evil 2. Mostly because it is said the game was made in a rush. But besides of that, resident evil 3 is good.

if you are looking for a bad resident evil game, then resident evil survivor thats it.
>>
>>12096049
>you can use 7 red+green or sprays and still get the maximum points
>you can use 10 red+green or sprays and still get the best rank

tl;dr insisting on only using green+green is still retarded unless you really suck at the game
>>
>>12093763
The original prototype ended at the Clock Tower battle, hence why it feels hard in a way. The rest of the game was an expansion made after Capcom wanted the entire game revamped and expanded because they felt it had potential as a full title.
>>
>>12096741
>unless you really suck at the game
And? It doesn't matter if you can only use sprays and still get an S rank, Green+Green still allows you to heal more overall
>>
>>12096873
Green+Green is a bad idea if you're fighting Nemesis.
Here is the thing, when Nemesis throws your ass around, it deals around half of your HP and your ability to get up depends on how much HP you have left. Now if that happens when you're in the low end of the "Fine" status, that can easily lead to death. You heal with green+green, you see "Fine" status, you have no idea if you're in the low or high end of "Fine".
>>
>>12097008
I've literally never died from Nemesis when above orange caution
I just always heal the moment I reach orange caution and I never die
>>
>>12096305
I remember unlocking all the costumes but I don't remember getting that good at the game despite beating it like 20 times as a kid
It's been a long time though, so I could be wrong
