The way I see it is 6th gen was these devs learning from the experimental 5th gen era and really learning what was clicking and what wasn't. What genres were selling or would be good and which wouldn't. But you still had quite a bit of jank even this gen. 7th gen though they largely learned all the control issues and camera problems so you mostly saw this finally fixed although the industry got way too corporate and shitty with this gen towards the end. It was already getting bad even mid gen with so many games feeling incomplete or even downright ripping you off like with those online passes just to play multiplayer. So you couldn't buy used.I get where you are coming from if you are a 2D only enjoyer. But I think the earliest 3D games absolutely should be counted. The day 7th gen (Xbox 360 and PS3) is allowed on here due to age forcing this concept of what is "retro" is the day I probably am truly done with this board.
