Bro, this trilogy is fuckin wacky
I really only like the first one as I really like the setting and think the latter two fall off due to the setting.
>>121038632nd falls off due to it being more action-focused, and the third one brings it back around to being horror-focused again and makes up for the big drop of the second.
>>12103874Maybe, but unless it's movies like The VVitch, that time period doesn't really appeal to me.
>>12103880Well....It is kind of like The VVitch...It's literally a supernatural survival horror in colonial times where you're fighting a witch/demon.
>>12103759Oh yeah, that happened.
>>121037591 > 3 > 2I'm simply amazed they managed to squeeze 3 games out of this. Although, they're kind of episodic, so more of like...3 mini games, glued together.
The movies are pretty fukin wacky to begin with. Yeah, the first movie was a neat lost footage Idea. The second movie was a Hollywood studio attempt at a Blair Witch follow-up. I honestly remember very little about the movie, and probably have not watched it in 20 years. I want to say I saw the third film. But I don't remember a thing about it. I swear it has been memory holed somehow.
>>12103759I think these games were made on the same engine as Nocturne, that one was pretty good 2bh
I wanted to say that it's weird that they made games based on Blair Witch but then I remembered that there was an FPS using the fucking Nosferatu IP (???)
>>12105058Nosferatu is public domain anyway. Not retro but the new Blair Witch surprised me with how good it was.
>>12105058it would be weird if they didn't, the franchise was massive and they could expand the lore as much as they wanted without contradicting anything since almost nothing brought up in the first movie was definite. anyway, word of mouth was fairly positive on the first game. never got to play it though
>>12105045the first one was made by the same devs as Nocturne
>>12103759These games look right up my valley. How did society lose the ability to produce gritty, trashy, high concept horror?
>>12103759first one is better because it's basically a Nocturne direct spin-off since it features Doc and The Stranger. The other two volumes aren't as good for that reason (at least for me).
>>12105427I don't give a shit about Nocturne, I just like the setting overall in 1.
>>12105040The second movie was a meta commentary on the fanbase of the first movie, where a bunch of fans go into the woods, get possessed, all have an orgy, and then spend the rest of the movie hallucinating spirits and shit, and kill one of them thinking she's the witch.
>>12103759Quality Halloween thread.
>>12105817I like the twist where they think they've killed the witch but the franchise dies instead. man, that movie sucked so bad.
>>12105972Yea, I remember being kind of pissed off that I wasted half my day off in high school being sick watching that shit on Comcast On Demand.
>>12105040My dad knew the father the camera man for one of the Blair witch movies. The camera man died in a plane crash while filming another movie. I remember being at home when his father called and I answered and he asked to speak to my dad. Didn't know what happened at the time but the grief and sadness in his voice always stuck with me. Thank you for reading my blog
>>12103759The first game is GOAT because of its comfy-ass setting. It's like Resident Evil mixed with Silent Hill.
>>12103759I only played the first one because I wanted more Nocturne and stranger and proto-Rayne. That fucking forest was genuinely creepy
>>12103759Is there a repack or something of these somewhere? I don't feel like looking for them for 30 minutes, then spending an hour to make them work.
>>12103759Fun game. The whiplash from starting out inside some supernatural high tech delta-green-esque facility in the beginning, to jumping into the blair witch is really bizarre.
>>12103759I REALLY like the first one. Playing it makes the movie even better.
>>12109215Not so bizarre if you played Nocturne.
>>12105058>FPS using the fucking Nosferatu IPThe one with randomly generated levels?
>>12109245It was semi-random.
>>12108941Check archive.org they have ISO of all three available.
Was about to recommend you remake the thread on /vr/, nice>Svetlana Lupescu would later be recycled into the new Bloodrayne IPI find it midly funny that Lupescu means "of the wolves" in Romanian, and you had an entire mission of clearing out werewolves
>>12108941>looking for them for 30 minutes, then spending an hour to make them workThat's the fun part, anon>>12109674>mfw the daemites showed up on Bloodrayne
>>12108941There are unofficial repacks/fixed versions on MyAbandonWare that you can download for both Nocturne and Blair Witch.https://www.myabandonware.com/game/nocturne-bgzhttps://www.myabandonware.com/game/blair-witch-volume-i-rustin-parr-c5kThey should both work on Windows 11.
I remember playing the demo for the first one and wondering why my character had a gun with a lasersight... in a Blair Witch Project adaptation.
>>12110248They took tips from Ghost Adventures.
the Blair Witch series honestly has really interesting lore. It's a shame it was mismanaged so hard.
>>12105817>>>12105040 (You)>The second movie was a meta commentary on the fanbase of the first movie, where a bunch of fans go into the woods, get possessed, all have an orgy, and then spend the rest of the movie hallucinating spirits and shit, and kill one of them thinking she's the witch.I haven't watched Book of Shadows since it was originally released on DVD all the way back in 2001. My memory is pretty fuzzy on the movie, to be honest. I'm not sure of Metal commentary for the sequel was the right direction to go in, after the first movie. It basically just deconstructs what the original built up by going in the 'New Nightmare" direction. I have never seen the third film.
>>12103759I remember there was an easter egg in one of them where you can get the main character lady in the shower.
>>12103759Quadrology Anon.
Man, I really want to check these games out. Is it better to play Nocturne first?
>>12110729Not necessarily. There are some references in the Blair Witch games that you will not fully get, but it's not required to understand the story. It does a nice world building for the BW games though.
>>12109245>>12109248Was it Wrath of Malachi or another game you guys are talking about? 'Cause I bought that one on discount some months ago but haven't tried it yet
>>12110729Definitely play the first one (Rustin Parr). The other two are optional.
>>12103759*rock clattering noises*
>>12110729The autistic way to go is Nocturne first, then Blair Witch v1 (2 & 3 are optional), then Bloodrayne
>>12110689I have heard of this one but that's it, didn't realise it was part of a blair witch series
>>12113560It's not. Blair Witch is more-so tied into Nocturne, rather than the other way around.Nocturne is an interesting game. Parts of it are very fun. Parts of it are somewhat obtuse and annoying. It's basically an episodic title where you play as a paranormal hunter and go to a few different locations and fight various supernatural entities, like vampires, and undead, and shit.
>>12113037Why does this look AI?
