it started slow but im having a really great time with this now. is pm64 just as good?
yes its bretty gud(also just bumping cause fuck the sega spammer)
>>12104564>I-IS THAT A G-GAMECUBE I MEAN, SHIT CUBE TITLE?!! FUCKING CUBIES RUIN MY LIFE AGAIN AHHHH STOP ENJOYING NINTENDO!just getting this out of the way before the schizo sees this
>>12104564I like 64 more honestly the only downside is the BP only goes to 30 but there isn't that much choice when it comes to badges so it's not that bad, the tutorial is a bit annoying since you don't get action commands right away.also, bow is best girl.
>>12104564TTYD is goated. As a direct sequel naturally it builds on its predecessor.>>12104712When I played PM64 I used a Gameshark code to raise BP to 96 once I hit the limit. Any higher and the game crashes when you level up.
>>12104564PM64 is more conventional in a "Bowser captured the princess, go collect the things and beat him up" way. TTYD goes harder on interesting settings and setpieces but has some seemingly intentional annoyances dotted along the way that slightly mar an otherwise excellent game. 64 is (after you get the action command, sort of a slog before if you're already familiar with the system) a good solid experience all the way through.
>>12104564I like TTYD more but the original is good and worth playing. All the other PM games can be safely ignored.
>>1210456464 is great, but the start is slower, you don't start with action commands until the end of prologue, so battles are basically just select the move and watch it happen like pokemon. it gets better after
>>1210456464 is fucking great and I think it's better than TTYD in a lot of ways, but the core gameplay is definitely more basic. You'll have a good time.
how much peach sex in this?
>>12105401She takes a shower in front of a pervy ai, if that counts
>>12105480she also runs around naked while invisible
Im on the moon and just found out stylish moves are a thing. did I miss the explanation for this in the game or is it straight up hidden? damn...
>>12105506I forget but I think a random NPC talks about them at least
>>12105401not enough.
Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass WHEN
64 is good and really solid and TTYD is a sequel that improves on it in every way. It was too good to last.
I like 64 better. Better music and levels imo. The art style still looks great
>best chapter: 5>worst chapter: 6what do we think lads
>>121056842 is the worst chapter but I don't really even dislike it. 3, 4 and 6 are my favorites but I know a lot of people dislike the backtracking in 4.
>>12105721if twilight town was chapter 2 I wouldve dropped the game and missed out on a masterpiece. the theme, dungeon, partner, premise are all good but holy hell the backtracking was egregious.>go to the castle, okay>now go back to town as shadow mario, whatever>now go to the castle again to get the letter, geez alright>now go back to town to reveal dupliss, of course>oh there he goes... back to the castle again, better go after him !fuck off
do we all agree that ms. mowz is best partner and its not particularly close
>>12105790I never use her unless I want to steal something or I'm looking for hidden shit
>>12105205Super Paper Mario is the most "cool ideas executed horrendously" game ever made, probably
>>1210456464 starts slower, but it is a more consistently enjoyable experience.
>>12105970I've tried playing it a few times but the gameplay is so dull
>>1210600764 has way less mandatory backtracking the only time is flower fields which isn't bad since it's much shorter and you only do it once for the crystal berry.
>>12106175it's not great but I'd still put it above the newer titles.punishing players for entering fights is bad game design.
>>1210456464 has better map/level/world design. TTYD is better in almost every other way
>>1210649164 has a few more than that, getting the letters for Parakarry at Mt Rugged and going out for the magical seeds if you didn't find them your first way through. Some of the Toybox can feel backtracky maybe. None of them are anywhere as egregious as TTYD's shit like the General White sequence or most of Chapter 4.
>>12104564Pm64 is more simple, but I actually like it more and think it has way more charm than TTYD. That being said, I also love TTYD. I also thought it had a way too slow start but it ended up being one of my favorite Mario rpg's.
>>12106551It's a really comfy world that feels more connected. Most of the thousand year door areas are only accessible through pipes
>>12105721>>12105765>>12106491>>12106567TTYD has so much backtracking and isn't interconnected past the thrown together sewers because the game was rushed out in under a year of development to fill out the Gamecube's library if the internal files are anything to be believed. It's a fucking miracle the game is as amazing as it is.
>>12105790she was only useful in the demake for one of the hidden bosses, and even then, there was better strategies. i just wanted an excuse to use her
TTYD is such a fuck you to the player. Everyone who thinks otherwise has Stockholm Syndrome.
>>12106849I mean I mostly like her for the design but having the treasure sniffer on the map, the only steal command and a mario heal is definitely pretty damn useful. though I still use vivian a lot for when I need to nuke shit.
>>12106567whoever thought general white was a good idea deserves to be shot, honestly the snow area was too short for it's own good.>>12106604the only places is flower fields and shiver city that are disconnected, one's a magic door so it feels special at least, they could've connected shiver city via shooting star summit and made it work somehow but I can forgive one pipe.>>12106747alot of the maps in ttyd are also flat and dull, it feels disjointed.>>12106868oh yeah it does alot, people act like it's this perfect game when there's alot of glaring flaws even outside of backtracking.>>12107303healing is absolutely worthless when you have optimal badge set up, you don't even need danger Mario either.
>>12105790>jumps around way high up in cutscenes>cant hit elevated enemies as a partnerWhat did they mean by this?
I just unlocked the shadow palace. should I go for pit of 100 trials now or save it for postgame? havent touched it yet
>>12107887it depends if it's your first play through, if it is then wait until after your done since there's slight spoilers if you care about that sort of thing.
>>12107887on replays I usually do it before going to the moon but if it's your first playthrough then maybe save it for last
I think that pm64 establishing the series allowed tTYD to be even better, like playing SMB before SMB2
>>12104564Its a fucking awful game. Pure nintendo corporate brandslop for 8 year olds. Are the paper marios are fucking dire. Are you trolling?
>>12107303it costs 20 fp though, i prefer just having flurrie in front and using dodgy fog + lip lock to tank>>12107887you should go down to the 50th floor at least, you can get your inventory expanded that wayif you're doing the trouble center quests there's one in postgame that has you go down there again
>>12108293holy ESL
time to save the princess ladsjust gonna hop right into 64 right after im done
>>12104564>SMRPGAwesome. Very weird and lots of cool hard to find naturally secrets. Play the snes version>PM64Best Mario game ever made >TTYDWorse then 64 in some ways but better in others Very solid>SPMIf you like weird indie RPGs you'll enjoy it>SSNo>CSOkay but childish>TOKGood but childish>SSSGood, kind of overrated though>PITUnderrated, lovely game if you can look past the babies crying in cutscenes sometimes>BISYou get to play as bowser it's fucking awesome, incredible soundtrack btw>DTGood but too long>PJNot worth it>BSKind of good, way too long>Rabbids gamesHaven't played them
>>12105970At least it has a lot of unique ideas, anything with unique ideas is worth it imo
