It was so weird going from this...
...to this
>>12110528>>12110530Were you in a coma for the span of 3 years and around 6 other Mega Man games that separate those two?
>>12110528It was weirder to go from MM's goofy, cartoonish fun to a grimdark, depressing world like MMX's dystopian future.
MegaMan Legends had me excited for a 3D Mega Man X, because logically speaking, just like MMX improved gameplay over classic MM, I was expecting a 3D MMX to be much better than MM Legends, especially in the controls. "3D MMX is gonna be AWESOME!"I'm sure you can all imagine my disappointment when MMX7 came out.
>>12110528The 16 bit MMX games look much better than the 32 bit ones.
>>12110886X4,5 and 6 each have a small handful of really nice looking stages. Overall I would say X5 is the most bland.I agree though, the 16-bit stages were more interesting. X2's stages in particular were very unique.
>>12110886X series lost its way as soon as it left the SNES
>>12110880>MMX7It's enough to make you want to burn it all down.
>>12111119BURN BURN TO THE GROUND
>>12111110The best X game is on PlayStation.
>>12110880I don't see the correlation Anon, Legends plays entirely different and is pretty much a new take/it's own thing, it doesn't even have proper platforming. X7 is actually a solid attempt to try to make the formula work in 3D without making it feel like Mega Man (cheap feel and rushed game aside), it's just a formula that is inherently designed for 2D and just doesn't work in 3D.
>>12111261*Without making it not feel like Mega Man
>>12111254Only because you can play as Zero
>>12110886Nah I like the bigger sprites in X4.
>>12111254Saturn*And nah, X1 and X2 are still better.
>>12110865It's not even all that particularly grimdark until like the violence depicted in X4's cutscenes. It's still kind of basically colorful robots duking it out and taking out the evil baddie, Zero dying on-screen aside.
>>12111467X2 is far the weakest of the bunch. Only X1 and MHX are better
>>12110530
>>12110886Half of X4 isn't even true pixel art, and it gets even worse with X5-X6.>>12111110The new team completely fucked up the controls.
>>12111515?
>>12111110true>>12111254false
>>12111574Man, I miss that series and it's art. It's debatable, but thanks to the faces and voice acting, I think it's the best graphics/presentation on the psx. One day he'll get off that moon, one day.
>>12110528The only megaman games I ever beat were X1 and X2. Should I play X3 next or Legends
>>12111254Showing your age. The only people who rate X4 over X1 had it as their first game in the series. The cringe voice acting alone puts it below the SNES trilogy. It literally stained the franchise.
>>12111576the controls are fine, maybe even better than the snes games since you can have both dash and weapon select on the shoulder buttons. the physics are kinda wonky though, and generally they just feel slower even though you can hold dash to keep moving.
>>12110528>>12110530How?
>>121115741000% sovl. Love this little game like you wouldn't believe. MML really is a textbook example of being able to appreciate how heartfelt a game was even if you pick it up outside of its contemporary era.I got into the MML series way late and I still feel all the pain of 3 being canceled.. the concept looked amazing.
Was MML2 a real, full game? Or was it just those short demo discs? I'm confused.
>>1211088632-bit ones had to deal with trying to achieve detailed environments that couldn't reuse tiles anywhere near as much, while the 16-bit ones were often visually lacking when they didn't need to be (like X3 having detailed stage art, but uninspired environments and poor boss art, or X2 having flat stage art)
>>12113050>flat stage art)What does this mean?
>>12112387>Why do people play Megaman games? Tight platforming action? Varied unique colorful enemies? A rocking soundtrack?>No, cute pregnant ladies
>>12113476Flat perspective. Stage art in X1 and X3 tends to have an overhead-like perspective to it, with X4-X6 going fully into that like Ristar or Kirby Super Star. X2, instead, has most stage graphics be done with a flat perspective, sort of like the NES Mega Man games. To be fair, it might have been for visual clarity, so it's not necessarily a bad aspect, either.
WTF is Megaman even nowadays>classic>X>Legends>BN>random cameos
>>12112987MML2 is a full game, but Misadventures of Tron Bonne (a spin-off game) came with a demo disc for MML2. Kind of like how Zone of the Enders came with a demo for MGS2.
>>12112987You might be confusing MML2 with MML3. MML3 was in development for 3DS, and (for a reason or another) they were planning on putting out a paid demo on eshop. However, Capcom canned the game outright, so the demo never became publicly available. Only like a few press people ever got to play it outside of Capcom.
Is the phone game any good
>>12111872I would recommend X3, X4, and X5 next. However, I recommend X5 with the Improvement Project Addendum hack. It significantly improves the game.
>>12110530Postterm pregnancy is a serious issue, Anon
>>12110528>>12110530kek you fucking shit
