Wow. HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS GAME IS GOOD. It’s KINO. Woof. All caps sperg-out over. It’s like a hack n slash but way way way more dynamic. Also, all the models are kino AF. Reminds me a lot of Evangelion. With something called Metatron, they’re basically shouting how much they love Evangelion. Also, Japs have a weird exoticism thing going on with Jewish and Christian themes and symbols. Sephiroth = sefirot, the 10 emanations of the ein sof in Jewish kabbalah mysticism. Xenosaga Episode III, some fucking guys are hanging out in a chamber with a cross on the wall behind them. This game with Metatron, God’s highest angel according to the Talmud. What’s up with all that? Also taking a moment to note that Sin in Final Fantasy X doesn’t count. It’s a really, really bad translation of Shin, or death. You can hear the Al Bhed who capture Tidus say it like that when Sin (Shin) attacks them. I’ve gotta say they really missed the mark translating Shin as Sin. It makes it too confusing to western audiences. We already have a lot of ideas about sin that do not fit with it being a giant whale. Although, it definitely makes sense in some ways. It brings death. That’s about it. Jecht’s father being sin does seem like a hint to sin being hereditary, but it’s a moo point because 1) Jecht’s only related to Tidus, and they’re both dreams of the fayth, so it’s not like sin is passed down through all the generations like in Christian thought and 2) that’s not what the Japanese had in mind when they wrote the antagonist. It’s death. MAN, so frustrating. They should have called it Death in the dub.
