What makes a game "Nintendo Hard" and what makes a game unplayable dogshit? Why do Ghosts n Goblins and Battletoads get a free pass while countless NES games exist purely to star in an episode of a Youtuber shouting at the camera?
>>
There's no such thing as a "hard" NES game. Some require more memorization than others, but that's all it is.

The hard part is the length of the game, and whether or not you're granted continues or checkpoints of any kind.
Restarting from the very beginning is challenging and associated with "Nintendo Hard", but it's also just tedious because it makes you replay whole sections of a game you've gotten good at, to get back to the part you're struggling with and have lots of down time between attempts.

It's not like AVGN videos haven't covered this in excruciating detail for dozens of NES games.

Battletoads feels competent and dripping with soul. The juice is worth the squeeze.
If a game is poorly coded and yet highly demanding, it feels hypocritical.
Like the devs are holding you to a standard they are not even meeting themselves.

>What makes a game "Nintendo Hard"
A child calling it that? Only a silly baby would use that term or care about anyone who does.

Who fucking cares about your zoomer insecurities? This isn't worth wasting a thread on.

still can't beat a mediocre Sonic game award
>>
Us Hardcore Mature Gamers REFUSE to use Nintendo and Hard on the same sentence.

I don't give GnG a pass. It was bullshit then and it's bullshit now, tolerable only with save states or autistic levels of devotion.

Maximo was the realization of what fags pretend GnG was.

>What makes a game "Nintendo Hard"

some douche having the whim to call it that, nothing more and nothing less

>Why do Ghosts n Goblins and Battletoads get a free pass

Battletoads does cos it's generally cool and fun, Ghosts 'n Goblins often doesn't but if it does it's because it's so old and it gained status as a classic before people were nitpicking quite so much about this stuff

Battletoads is great, it has great graphics, great music, great gameplay, it's just fucking difficult. Ghost and Goblins meanwhile is so difficult because it's broken shit.

Challenge was the entire point of video games then.
